UHN Nara Maruto Shoyu formerly NIPPONIA Tawaramoto Maruto Shoyu

We loved everything about our stay at Nipponia. The food was exceptional, the staff so warm and friendly (even though minimal english) and the facilities were beautiful and authentic. Such an incredible experience. We felt welcome in every way. The traditional breakfast is prepared and presented so thoughtfully and we would looked forward to it each morning. The soy sauce education and addition to dishes really helped us appreciate the effort and taste of soy. We would definitely recommend others to stay 🤗.

If you catch a taxi into town, it's hard to get back to hotel. We walked 30 mins to return home after early dinner. Maybe an evening shuttle service to & from town (if you are a foreigner). The town of Tawaramoto is a rural town, however has everything you need. The little Art Cafe next to the station was delightful and their cheesecake exceptional 😋

Every member of staff was caring, warm and left us with a genuine feeling that they wanted our stay to be the best it could. They were all so proud of the hotel and what it represented. Having the opportunity to have a guided tour of the soy making history by the 18th generation owner, was exceptional and the soy was woven into the the meals - which were sublime.

Everything! Fabulous location and experience with an opportunity to get away from the city and enjoy Japan’s tranquility! The exceptional service, soy tour experience, and surroundings were fantastic! All details were attended to including, farm to table fine dining, refined finishes and comfort.
