This property occupies the entire second floor of the Church of Santa Maria in Montepulciano—a stay unlike any other I’ve ever had. It began with a sense of mystery, a faint tingle of awe, which slowly softened into comfort and deep appreciation. My 15-year-old son, brimming with curiosity, explored the entryway and the home’s nooks like he was hunting for clues in an escape room. What made it even more delightful? Little surprises not mentioned in the description: a path winding to a small garden, a hidden passage off the kitchen—real gems. The balcony views are nothing short of spectacular, too. The living room overlooks the church, while the bedrooms frame classic Tuscan vistas—both equally captivating. One evening, we watched the sunset paint the sky, and in the distance, the Church of San Biagio glowed beautifully in the golden light. The decor feels rich with history—tasteful, texture and perfectly suited for our group: two families, with one boy, one girl, and the parents. The living room has books that tell the town’s story, making it feel like a cozy little museum. I adored the bedroom linens and the bathroom decor—elegant, comfortable, and immaculately clean. Getting around town is easy, with charming streets to wander and fantastic restaurants to savor local food and wine. This stay was unforgettable. For large families wanting a one-of-a-kind experience in a Tuscan town, this place comes highly recommended.

The house doesn’t have a dishwasher, so I had a faint worry about how clean the tableware might be. In the end, I gave all the utensils I planned to use a good wash—though maybe I was just being overly cautious. I wanted to chop some fruit, but there was no proper cutting board. The small wooden one provided was already cracked, and I spotted a plastic tray with knife marks on it. I figured previous guests must have faced the same dilemma and made do with that tray as a stand-in. On the plus side, finding a washing machine was a nice surprise. It wasn’t mentioned in the description, so I’d already resigned myself to not doing any laundry during the stay. That said, none of these little things diminished my satisfaction with the overall experience.
