Antigua Casa del Limon

Gorgeous home, ideally located. Everything is beautifully decorated, comfortable, with incredible outdoor spaces. The communication throughout was excellent; we felt very cared for. We were met by the local caretaker on arrival despite the late hour, and she arranged and escorted us to our departure ride as well.

There are some lower doorways given the 18th century construction, so taller folks need to watch their heads.

Everything about this house was beyond anything I could imagine. Aside from an excellent location, the house had everything we needed for comfort, but what made for an unforgettable stay were all the wonderful details that spoke for its rich history.

There was nothing at Antigua Casa del Limon that I did not like. I loved every minute in this house.

Beautiful, authentic, colonial mansion!! Lots of steps inside but so culturally and historically important that they haven’t ruined the beauty of the original house. That is hard to find. Close to the main Jardín de la Union. If you have never stayed in a colonial home you may be a little put out by things that are normal: weak water pressure, tripping over steps that are unexpected, rain coming into the house, etc. but that is just life in Guanajuato. This is the best location! Our family of adults enjoyed it immensely. I spent a whole day reading on the terrace and I didn’t feel a bit guilty for not getting out and doing. It was also surprisingly quiet for GTO, not as many barking dogs as we are used to. I would definitely like to return. Sandra met us there and was available through WhatsApp anytime we had questions. The owners in CA were also very communicative. It was a lovely stay, we made great memories with our adult children. I’m sad we couldn’t stay longer. Thank you so much!!

Water pressure

This wonderful 18th century home is up a number of steps from one of the main streets in Guanajuato. Minutes away is a street filled with food vendors. The upstairs deck is surrounded with plants and offers a remarkable view of Guanajuato. A quiet refuge from the many exciting pedestrian streets it is also located near a convenient drop-off or pickup for Uber rides. The house is filled with wonderful art and ceramic pieces. The property manager helped arrange transport from the airport and to the bus station. Also, the property can rent as two separate units, so keep that in mind when booking, depending on your group. Owner is very responsive to inquiries.

Though most everyone relies on smartphone maps, a few copies of local paper maps (which nobody at tourist kiosks seemed to have) might help orient in the delightful maze of pedestrian streets. I'm more of a microwave than a toaster oven kind of guy, but I could deal. :-)
