Good location, friendly staff, short walk to station

Room very small, no place for suitcases and clothes

I travel a lot and this was one of the best hotels I stayed in in the last few years. It was clearly designed by someone with a lot of common sense as they took advantage of all the weirdness surrounding having a small plot of land in Kyoto to design a fully functional hotel. The rooms were not only clean but also comfortable (if small - but that's the Japanese standard). The location was great - Kyoto is so spread out that staying near one tourist attraction puts you super far away of everything else. This is why I opted for staying in the middle, near the subway and within walking distance of the main train station - and somehow it was very calm there.

The rooms are small - but that it is to be expected of a hotel in Japan. The reception isn't 24h so we had to specifically arrange for someone to wait for us. But that's a tiny downside. Otherwise it was great.

Location and style

Quiet neighborhood, yet central (10 minutes walk to the Central Station). The hotel doesn’t offer breakfast, but a decent coffee for free in the lobby. Staff very friendly and speaks a little English. Room small (like in all of Japan), but with only small luggage we managed. Would definitely recommend it to a friend.

We had a ground floor room, and the only window looked out on a parking garage, which made it quite dark. But then we’ve only been there to sleep.
