Dave the Cave Eco Lodge and Cultural Campsite

I didn't know what to expect from Dave's place, prior to arrival. I had seen photographs and read up on their website, about their ethos and the location, etc. But honestly, I was blown away by my short stay here. Firstly, while the location is AMAZING and a huge factor in what makes it so special; without Dave front and centre, it would not have been the same. He is such a great host and genuinely interesting, engaging, and cheerful man. We really enjoyed spending some time with him in the evening, just having a drink and a chat around the campfire. The place itself wouldn't be what it is today without Dave's vision, and it really is incredible. The self contained accommodations are the perfect mix of luxury and rustic charm. Very comfortable rooms and the perfect place to relax. The culture evening was also a great unexpected bonus, which we really enjoyed. A real gem of a place!

As far as the major things go, nothing! Dave really is getting that right! The ONLY thing that comes to mind that could be an improvement is additional lighting on the pathways to the rooms, just for evening lighting.

We arrived after a long day’s travel from Kisoro and we were welcomed with a refreshing cup of herbal tea from Dave’s own garden, which was delicious. This property has an enormous amount of rustic charm. Our cabin was very comfortable and clean and also very spacious. It was lovely to have a view overlooking the lake, with our own veranda, where we enjoyed our own morning coffee and an afternoon sun bathing and reading our book. This place is very special. You’ll see monkeys happily wandering around the grounds. The food is wholesome and home grown and the coffee is fantastic having been grown and roasted on the premises. The staff are friendly and helpful and a special mention has to go to Selly, he was so patient with all our silly questions but helped to make our stay very special. Thank you to Dave, Selly and all the staff. I would say just book it, perfect base for the Queen Elizabeth National Park and don’t miss the Kazinga Channel boat tour.

Mooi meer, rustige omgeving, knus opgezet, leuk gewandeld rondom enkele meren, ontbijt en diner waren goed, Dave is een vriendelijke man, de mensen waren aardig. Wij hebben hier overnacht omdat wij via hen de chimpansee trekking wilden Boeken in Kalinzu. Leuke chille setting voor backpackers.

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding klopte totaal niet; backpackers locatie, kamers waren uitermate basic (armoedig), de prijs was 2/3 te hoog, voor deze prijs hebben wij op andere plaatsen in prima hotels geslapen. De weg vanuit het dorp erheen is slecht.
