La Maison du Lac Lavaud

Omgeving als zeer prettig ervaren, heerlijk rustig ook voor onze hondjes. Met het extreme warme weer, verbleven we aan huis maar ook voor de honden was het in huis zeer aangenaam, lekker en koel. Meertje op loopafstand.. voor je boodschappen ongeveer 10 miuten rijden.. ben je een wielrenfanaat neem dan je fiets mee.😉 We hadden trouwens te maken met extreme hittegolven het was fijn dat we even konden afkoelen in een zwembadje.,met heerlijke ligstoelen met een groot, breed zonnescherm.

Alles in het huis was top. Mooie materialen en afwerking. Gezellig ingericht en alles wat je nodig hebt is er.

The recently renovated property is located in rural southern France and is beautifully situated next to a lake. We could not fault the property- it was nicely presented and had all the necessary facilities. We booked the property to use as a base as we were attending a friend’s wedding at a hotel located 5 miles away. We arrived at the property on Friday afternoon having travelled from Bordeaux airport by taxi. We were warmly welcomed by the host who provided 2 bottles of wine, milk and some water. We enquired about the possibility of getting taxis to and from the wedding venue to attend events over the next 3 days. We were informed that all previous guests had access to cars and she was unsure of any local taxi companies but provided a number to try. The host offered to get us something from a bakery located near to her own property for the following day which was a nice gesture.

We were due to attend an event at the wedding venue at 6pm that Friday evening. We had been trying unsuccessfully to book a taxi all that afternoon. We texted the host to ask for any other taxi recommendations as we were in danger of missing the event- another number was provided but we had already tried this same taxi firm to no avail. My friends were staying at similar properties elsewhere and had the same issue with getting a taxi, given the remote location. However, they were able to get a lift from the property owners. We were unable to get a taxi and missed the event that evening. As we had no access to shops, we also did not have anything to eat. Despite this, we had no offer of assistance from our host - a 10 minute car journey to the hotel or to shops seemed to be a stretch too far. We managed to source a taxi for the Saturday which was booked for 3.30pm. That morning we thought we would walk to find somewhere to have something to eat but to no avail. Not having anything to eat, we contacted the host to take her up on her offer of getting us some food from the bakery. She responded to say she was out of town and unable to help. We have never felt so isolated and helpless in our lives. What happened to human kindness and going over and above what is expected? Not here.
