MARKOS' HOUSE

If you want a house by a super beach in a remote part of Naxos, this is for you. Terrific location. House has two balconies, on by the front door and over that one at first floor level. Part of a larger house.

Don't read this as a complaint but information which might guide people. We went the week before Western Easter and ten days before Orthodox Easter. It was still the Winter season: a lot of places were closed including the one local beach taverna. So we had to have a self-catering holiday and the house really isn't suitable for that: the kitchen lacked things we wanted to cook with etc. And it is an outdoor house: lovely with the balconies but we had a storm which kept us in, and there isn't a sitting room when you are trapped indoors. Sofa and dining table in the kitchen. So high summer, I am sure it is excellent: low season it didn't work as well. Because of the layout, there aren't really any outdoor views - in different circumstances we would barely have gone in the house except to sleep. So we enjoyed ourselves and very much liked the place, but we were there at least a week too early. Good communications with the very helpful owner. Could do with a bit of uncluttering though.

Dejligt hus lige ved stranden. Her var skønt og stille. Værten var rigtig rar og kom med frisk grønt og æg til os. Terrassen var dejlig at sidde på om aftenen og gav god læ for vinden.

Den ene seng var ret hård.

Markos and his mother, Katerina, were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel instantly at home. The apartment was spotless and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need; from drinking water in the fridge to beach umbrellas and chairs. They thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with breakfast items and more, going above and beyond, even for such a short stay like ours. The area is quiet and has a taverna just a stone’s throw away. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing stay by the beach.

Wonderful location with great outdoor spaces to enjoy the great weather. Beach is wonderfully close (quiet and used by locals) and they provide chairs and umbrellas, and the AC and washer worked well. The hosts were great and easy to deal with, the nearby restaurants were good with a lot of authentic character, and we had what we needed to enjoy the island.

Beds were very hard, and lots of clutter (though it definitely gave it personality!)
