villa palmi

Perfect location for visiting the Valley of the Temples. The accommodation has a comfortable and large bedroom, large entrance and dining area, small kitchen and small bathroom with shower. Entrance is down a short track off Via Passeggiata Archeologica, then left through a large gate; the site is part of a larger complex of similar houses, which aren't related to the property (as far as we were told when we got there). We were only there one night, so didn't cook, and thus didn't use the kitchen. Bonamorone Ristorante on Strada Provinciale 4, a short walk away, was excellent. Some of the temples, when lit up at night, can be seen from the terrace of the property, which is lovely. We were there in August, and went to do a night tour of the temples, which was excellent - though note: We thought we might be able to walk to the temple park entrance from the villa, but the walkable entrance just down Via Passeggiata Archeologica only takes you to the archeological museum, which is not where you see the temples from at night. You need to head a further 1.5 km south to the official ticket office. We walked back to Villa Palmi and drove down.

It wasn't immediately clear what was what - we parked in the obvious car park, and introduced ourselves to a man at a small bar, but he explained that he was part of the neighbouring group of villas, and that Villa Palmi was separately managed. But he seemed to know what was going on and said the keys to our place were in the door.

Short walk to the Valley of Temples and great views from the property. You felt like you were part of the family while staying there.
