If you want to be away from the main town buzz, this is the place! Although it takes about 45 minutes to get to the state park, or a long time to get to any attractions, restaurants, etc., it provides the 'get-away' in a relaxing atmosphere.
The house is big and nice and sleeps 12 on 2 floors. The kitchen is upstairs, so make sure you can go up and down the stairs several times. Equipped with games, television sets and several kitchen items, you don't have to go out if you don't want to, and have got enough food.
We went to the Clear Lake state park for jet-skiing and restaurants. This was over the labor day weekend, and it may be due to that, that the places weren't over-crowded, nor were they empty.
There is a 2-person kayak with 1 paddle that can split into 2. There are no life-vests, so take your own. The ramp was crooked, with a pipe and some obstacles jutting out, so we could not use that to lower the kayak into the water. However, the host arranged for us to use the neighbor's ramp. We swam in the water, which is not the cleanest (algae), but is refreshing. Be sure to not swallow any of it.
There are 2 spacious decks, 1 on each floor, The upper deck is ideal for an evening wine, get-togethers or even dining. From the deck, you can see the entire lake in front of you. It's a great lake for fishing. Although we did not fish, I saw folks fishing directly from the decks of the other houses, and from little boats very close to this house.
