Beautiful old french house in spectacular rural setting

L'Abri Tranquille is a beautiful old house with a separate cottage, large pool and spacious grounds. It is unbelievably peaceful here - the loudest sound you will hear will be the amazing birdsong. You will enjoy wonderful views, a 12m x 6m pool, and large gardens which extend into a paddock and recently established vineyard. For the energetic amongst you, there is a table tennis table, badminton, boules and croquet. If reading or just chilling is more your idea of a holiday, you will find plenty of places to sit, either in the sun or the shade.

Meals can be taken outdoors on the large decking area overlooking the lawn. There is a barbecue next to the decking, and another barbecue outside the little house.

The main house is an ancient old farmhouse with three bedrooms. Two of these share the main bathroom while the third has an ensuite shower room. The house has a large well equipped kitchen, a lovely comfy sitting room with loads of books, and downstairs there is another shower room as well as a back kitchen with washing machine., tumble drier and loads of board games.

The separate cottage is just across the lawn. Its thick stone walls maintain a lovely cool atmosphere in the heat of the summer. The cottage is split into two parts: one has two bedrooms, a small kitchen and bathroom alongside a dining/living area. Adjoining this, but with its own entrance is another large bedroom with private bathroom.

The garden is huge with plenty of trees and benches dotted around to take advantage of different viewpoints. The pool is 12m x 6m with a deep end and a shallow end. It is enclosed by a childproof fence for security.There is room for everyone to have a lounger around the pool and an outdoor solar shower for rinsing off before and after your dip.

You will be provided with crisp white bedding, fluffy white towels for inside and colourful pool towels for outside. There is a hairdryer in every bedroom and all your toiletries will be supplied (soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) as well as loo paper, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, teatowels etc We will start you off with enough charcoal for your first barbecue or two, so you can enjoy your holiday without having to worry about the little details.

It is a beautiful area for walking and cycling but you will need a vehicle to explore the wider area properly. There are amazing towns to discover, river beaches, chateaux, markets, caves and of course plenty of vineyards. Summer in the Dordogne can be very hot, so you will be delighted to fall into the pool at the end of a day exploring the local attractions.
If you would like to bring your canine companion with you, we would be more than happy for them to stay. Please bring their own beds though rather than let them use ours.
