Very good week's vacation spent at the property of Lesley and John. The equipment lives up to the advert: the swimming pool of course, but special mention for the jacuzzi and especially for the pizza oven (I could imagine myself becoming a pizza maker). Lesley and John are charming, attentive and full of good advice. Yes, the wifi is not perfect, but is this the theme of such holidays? In short, very good stay. Highly recommend. Super holiday home for family get-togethers:
Our family had a wonderful stay here. The property was great for our group of 12 people, including a baby, small children and grandparents. The small house worked well for the grandparents, as they could get up and go to bed when they wanted, and had somewhere quiet to retire to for a nap or just some peace and quiet, but could still join us for meals in the big house. The beds were very comfortable. All facilities were well maintained with the dishwasher an essential for a stay without any hassle. The kitchen was very well equipped, so we never lacked any equipment. The big freezer was a great help, even though the shops are only 5 minutes away. We especially liked the terrace, well shaded from the sun during the day, and well lit in the evening for family meals, with a view of the pool lit underwater. (The kids loved the "disco" lights, but we adults preferred the more subtle lights.) Obviously the pool was a success with the whole family, and the pool remains clean thanks to a robot that fascinated us all. Security fences were very appreciated as there were young children, so we could relax without worrying that children could fall into the water. The spa was great, very relaxing, with a view of the garden and the valley, but still private and protected from the sun. The amount of visits in the region surprised us. We did not expect much, but when we were forced to abandon the pool after too much sun, we discovered many visits easily within an hour by car. Visit number one for me was the monolithic church at Aubeterre, but the children preferred canoeing and horse riding. The market at Ribérac was wonderful, with so many people and stalls. There are many walks very close by, especially after too many large lunches! The best restaurant was at Siorac, Le Lavoir, a picturesque village very close by, but there was plenty of choice at the supermarkets and market to cook at home. The owners were nice and friendly and very good at dealing with the bees nest which appeared during our stay. Without hesitation we would recommend this property and hope to return soon. Super summer holiday for all the family !
We - a family of 12 people - loved the holiday we spent at La Maison/La Chaumière. Everyone, from the great grandmother (94 years old) to the twins (5 months), found an ideal place for both activity and relaxation. The house is well equipped, clean and comfortable. All equipment: dishwasher, freezer, washing machine, make the daily life of a large family much easier. We enjoyed dining on the terrace which is shaded at lunch time when the sun is hot, and refreshing in the evening. The barbecue was also much appreciated. The beds are good and extra equipment for babies was provided by the owners. As most of us had busy lives before reaching Villetoureix, we spent a lot of time relaxing and swimming, so the pool and spa were most welcome. Among us, there was a seven year old girl and we were reassured by the security fence that limited access to the pool. In the evening we played Mölkky (Finnish bowling) on the lawn near the pool. The TV room was perfectly suited to watching DVDs. The kitchen was also a nice place to get together with family and play board games. John and Lesley were very friendly and were helpful. They also gave us good tips for shopping in the region. Riberac market is a marvel. As we enjoy good food, it was a pleasure to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers. We also enjoyed boating on the river, and a few walks in the neighborhood. We enjoyed visiting Romanesque churches. Regarding the restaurants, we went to Le Lavoir where we received a warm welcome and experienced simple and good cuisine. La Maison & La Chaumière is a place we would recommend to our family and our friends. We would also go back without hesitation. (Martine, Yvelines, France )

Magnificent holiday home
We really appreciated this holiday home where we spent a week holidaying with family and friends. It is spacious, very well maintained and very well equipped. The big pool is very pleasant. We made good use of the spa (guaranteed relaxation) whilst the children played table tennis or were in the pool. The owners John and Lesley look after their guests very well. The children and adults all enjoyed the pizza evening where the children had to prepare and cook their own pizza in the oven built by John. Everyone had a good time. We also went visiting in the area - our favourite visit was the church built into the rock at Aubeterre, a very unusual building not to be missed. There are also the villages of St Jean de Cole and Brantome which are a must. At Brantome we hired canoes with the children - a pleasurable experience. Fantastic holiday here Everyone enjoyed it - something for everyone - the kids loved the games field - the adults loved the spa - and both loved the pool. Booking was easy - all questions answered promptly - proper contract exchanged. The gardens were well looked after - the pool was spotless - loungers - lovely terrace with huge tables and great lighting. Kitchen had everything and lifesaver of a dishwasher. Beds were comfortable - bedrooms were roomy and very clean. Towels came in handy so we didn't need to lug them from the UK, which meant more room for wine on the trip home! Would love to go again. We stayed at "La Maison&La Chaumiere" for 2 weeks, sharing with another family, who we have been on holiday with for the last 8 years, in many parts of France. And we all agreed that this property was the best of the lot. The interior of the house is very well presented and equipped. We wanted for nothing. Excellent kitchen, very large flat screen tv for the odd evening in with a family film, large and shaded outdoor terrace, large barbecue, and superb pool. And at night the terrace is romantically lit, and with the coloured lights on in the pool....well, we sometimes couldn't wait for it to get dark! Truly memorable. And the spa (or hot-tub, or jacuzzi, or whatever you call it) was the 'piece de resistance'!!! We tried it at all times of the day, and just loved it. Trouble is, a spa is now on our 'must have' list for future holidays, so our choices are going to be more limited. But, to have such a luxury touch made the holiday very special: we felt like millionaires for the fortnight. We also appreciated the quality beds. We tried out a few local restaurants. All were good and excellent value. The Friday morning market was a hit with the children too. Surprisingly large for a modest sized town. The choice of food stalls kept the adults busy, while the children went off to explore the gift, jewellery and trinket stalls. Our only problem was at the end of our stay, telling the children that we had to go home. But we managed to save the tears by agreeing to a late night swim, complete with coloured lights. We have always looked for a different property each year when choosing our next holiday. But we will probably return to La Maison, as I think it is going to be difficult to beat this one.
