Hermosa Hideaway

Door code was texted the day of visitation. No problems getting in to the property. Great parking! Perfect location. Quiet and dark at night. Super clean place. Really big bedroom with king. Fully stocked kitchen and full fridge with ice maker. Really great value. Great sunrises over the mountains with views of the pasture and river valley.

Great place. Constructive recommendations only: needs hooks in entry-way hall for coats, hats, etc. Also possibly in the bed room for bath towels. Dining room park bench for 6 and large sectional take up too much room in the living area.

This location was a nice upper floor of a house that was located about 10 miles outside of Durango, CO. It was fairly quiet except for some road noise and the trains that went by in the morning and late afternoon. The views of the night sky were excellent. Inside, the rental was clean and looked to be either fairly newly renovated or very well cared for. The kitchen was fully furnished, the furniture was comfortable and the shower was huge. Overall, this location is a nice, cozy place to get away for a few days in the mountains.

The road was a bit noisy. I think the main problem we had was directions getting to the property. Its in a rural setting and not easy to find from a fairly busy road. All we were given was an address and a very small section of Google Maps. When I clicked on the address, a number of different locations showed up. So, if you are trying to find this place driving on US 550 north from Durango, when you get to Hermosa keep going north until you get to mile marker 33. The rental is the second driveway on the left just over a small rise in the road. Be careful because there is no left turn lane. If you see Honeyville or James Ranch, you've gone too far.

I appreciated the ample space, serenity, and quiet. I enjoyed the location and convenient access to Durango, Vallecito Lake, Durango Hot Springs, and local shops and restaurants. I highly recommend James Ranch Grill and Hermosa Creek Grill to future visitors to Hermosa/Durango.

Although the mattress seemed to be of high quality, I found it rather firm. However, I slept soundly on my second night due to exhaustion. I believe upon check-out it's a policy to wash the bed linens before leaving the Airbnb. I noticed residual water, hair, and a little mildew in the rubber ring around the opening of the washing machine. I have had a similar experience with another Airbnb. Although I started a load of the bedding, doing so gave me pause. I took a photo of this issue, just in case.

Kitchen was very nice.

Property listing was very deceptive when it said property was air conditioned! Bedroom had a small window unit. Living room, kitchen, bathroom had no air conditioning. Note said to open windows. Three windows opened, but only one had a screen. Ceiling fan in living room did not work.
