In July 2025 we had a reservation at Avonmeade Cottage in Tewksbury UK and feel like Sykes and the owner misrepresented this property. We felt this property is unsafe for persons over 5 feet 4 inches or those with any mobility issues. I hit my head on a low crossbeam (should be padded) and with an injured shoulder was unable to confidently navigate the extremely steep narrow stairs up to the bedroom. The only railing was a loose rope to hold onto. When I finally got to the bedroom, the mattress was like a lumpy marshmallow and the linens were musty and damp. We decided we could not safely stay and immediately filed a claim with Sykes the next day on the online portal as recommended. They said they would get back to me and now 45 days later has never heard back from them. If this property is representative of the overall Sykes of portfolio I would not rent a property they represent. If my case is in any way representative, if you have a problem or complaint I would not expect Sykes to follow up on a timely basis. I have owned and let several 5 star properties of my own on VRBO/Homeaway and would never list a property in this condition. Do not rent Avonmeade. Don not rent a Sykes managed property.
