This Villa is stunning, it is total perfection. The staff were incredible and really looked after us - nothing was too much. We were greeted each day with smiles and careful attention. It is one of those rare places that is not only luxurious, it managed to have a warm, home-from-home feeling about it. It takes a great deal to truly hold that for all your guests. I would return to Pondicherry to stay here alone.

The taxi ride to Chennai was exhausting because our driver did not go slowerthan 100kn / hr .. we did a 3.5 hour journey in around 2 hours and 10 minutes.... Three women screaming to slow down and he didn't. I did expect for a more careful driver to be booked by the villa.... like the one we had getting there. That did put us in a bad space for our flight home - it was exhausting.

The room was large. The setting is charming. The location is great. The beautiful smile and willing service of Shanti (maid).

Kiran Rao, owner does a fabulous job in all the rooms EXCEPT the biggest - Deluxe Double Room with Balcony - which felt like an unrenovated collection of leftover shabby old furniture. The balcony is used as storage for 2 filthy chests of drawers - Why? The kitchen was not appointed (no cooking equipment, cutlery or crockery) so basically useless. The bed pillows were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast was the same each morning. We didn't like the cheap white bread so asked for paratha on day 3. The chef was happy to oblige but management cancelled it the next morning despite our USD 300 per night spend. So my husband got on the back of one of the staff's bikes and bought bread at a local bakery to bring back. Kiran's other Puducherry properties had glaring problems with staff attitude, especially the dress shop Chintz and the restaurant Coromandel Cafe. Worst service I have experienced in any restaurant anywhere in the world ever literally. Sullen disgruntled waiters who were glued to their phones in front of the patrons throughout service. It was impossible to grab their attention without calling out loudly - frankly it was an utter disgrace. This comes from management. I was told that Rao prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction and drives her restaurant staff to get rid of customers quickly so the next lot can come in. Hopefully you read this Kiran. It's not ok.
