About this house rental

The Wadsworth House was built in the mid-1800s. It is a fully renovated and modern Shotgun house in a quiet part of town on the east side, walkable to all events, to the river, and to shops/boutiques on Main St. Some folks living around have been living in the area all their lives. The Wadsworth House is situated on a charming tree-lined street with lots of character. Besides being a family name, it is also named The Wadsworth House in honor of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, whose poems I was forced to recite in the 5th grade! Hated it then, appreciate it now :)

One of the original owners, a carpenter, moved into the house in 1907 and added the side hall onto the east side of this shotgun house, giving it the privacy needed for the family. He had immigrated from Germany and took a job working at the button factory in town. Hardwood floors, a modernized full kitchen with granite countertops, and king-sized beds with full tiled bathrooms make this house a comforting getaway.

We stayed here for my son’s graduation weekend. What a fantastic property! Parking was always available right in front of the house, the patio is amazing for relaxing, the beds are so comfortable! We will definitely be back!

The hosts thought of everything down to the smallest details (a snack basket on the counter) to make our stay perfect! Location was great, beautiful home, backyard and front porch seating, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen and the place was spotless. The hosts are a lovely couple and you can see how much they care for The Wadsworth and want to share it with others. We hope to return to Madison and The Wadsworth very soon.

Wonderful VRBO steps away from the Ohio River and historic Madison in a very quiet setting. The home is comfortable, clean and very well-equipped, and the seating at the rear of the house is a nice bonus! The owners are great people, and have anticipated every need for a short or long stay. What a lovely home that we were able to enjoy some time away for our anniversary. Madison is such a charming community and this house adds to that charm. The location is a short walk to downtown, and during that walk you can see all the lovely homes in this neighborhood.The hosts provide such a welcoming home and a beautiful one at that. If we make another trip to Madison we will surely stay again at this house.

The house was so clean, comfortable and welcoming that we knew within the first few minutes we would love our stay. The layout is nice in that the bedrooms are in the back of the house. The decor is beautiful, the beds and couch are extremely comfortable and there are some great little touches like coffee, water and snacks provided as well as extra blankets, hand lotion in the restrooms, some games and puzzles and brochures for local spots. It is close enough to walk to shops and restaurants yet on a quiet block. We would return to this property with no hesitation!

I can’t say enough good things about our stay. Mona was just incredible and very kind and helpful. The house was so cozy and so clean. We had everything we needed and felt so at home during our stay. Mona even texted me before we arrived and asked if we’d like for her to put up the Christmas tree. Of course we said “YES”. It was just so sweet of her to ask. It added extra ambiance to an already beautiful home. It was the perfect place for me to bring my daughter to celebrate her 40th birthday-just a lovely mother/daughter long-weekend. I will definitely be staying here again!!!

The Wadsworth House was just as pictured on-line and was very clean & neat. The entry keypad was easier to use than in some of the other houses we have rented. There was an abundance of good, local info as to sights & restaurants - I especially appreciated the "rack" of brochures. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood & across the bridge.

Quick getaway for 4 sisters (from Cincinnati) and the home was the perfect setting! So clean and newly renovated- great soothing color scheme and decorations makes it feel like you’re at home. Very well stocked (coffee and toiletries) and lots of info on Madison with things to do. Hosts are very responsive. Nice location - walkable to town and to river walk - with outdoor seating on front and back porches. Definitely will visit again!

The Wadsworth home is a great place for a group of 4 to stay. The home is remodeled wonderfully with plenty of amenities . We had great time chilling on the back patio, listing to tunes and sipping cold drinks. Its a great home, looking forward to a return trip.

We live in East Central IN, and have found Madison IN to be wonderful place for a quick get away, or for a week or more as there is plenty to do. But the best part of trip was the Wadsworth house. It is big enough for 2 couples very comfortably, but the amenities, the quality of the bedding, appliances, the way the house has been kept up is truly exceptional. It is so quiet and comfortable. It is a great place to come home to, whether it is as you're getting done with your road trip to Madison, or after a day of hiking Cliffty Falls State Park, or a hard day of exploring the shops of Madison. We have found our go to house in Madison when we come here. You will not be disappointed!

This place is homey, warm and inviting. Just like home. Decor is just right. Perfect seating for 4 to lounge, talk & enjoy TV. Played lots of games we brought, and did lots of cooking and snacking. Christmas time in Madison is very special. The riverfront is lit up with Christmas lights and the shops are open with extended hours. The Wadsworth is very nice. It, too, was decorated for Christmas with a tree and window lights. The house is a perfect size for two couples - very comfortable and quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the bedrooms are spacious. We are likely to return in the future.

Love Madison and now we have a favorite place to relax there!!! This place is beautiful and immaculate and Mona is so responsive to questions and/or issues(like me being technologically challenged). So many little extras make this feel like home. Beds were perfect and towels made me feel like I was in a high end spa!!! We are already planning our next visit!
