The host was very friendly! She met us at the door and let us in early. The place was very clean and super cute, exactly like the descriptions, the towels were great, the soap and ammentites provided were excellent. The location couldn't be beat, the neighborhood was clean and quiet. It was very cold and the little space heater fireplace kept the place nice and toasty and added to the experience. There were plenty of extra blankets and towels if needed.
I would have liked all the extra rules posted on the booking website . Although they are easy to follow and I understand why we are asked to do them, I would have liked to of known before reserving so I could make a decision on if I wanted to stay there and take on the small extra tasks. Parking is limited and we had a hard time parking late in the evening, but no issues during the day, read all the signs!!! We were assured they wouldn't enforce the rules but didn't take any chances, we followed the signs and had no issues.

We had a wonderful stay at IreneHouse. Our host, Kari, was very kind and accommodating. We checked in later than expected without an issue. The property is beautiful with attention to detail throughout the entire place. We were surprised by the large size of our suite and the kitchen was stocked with amenities. Also, the book they provided showcasing the rich history of the home and breakfast spots nearby along instructions for the suite was a lovely touch. The decor throughout our suite made it feel like home and our bed was very comfortable. My husband and I will definitely be back for another stay.

It is nice but not fancy

Fantastic location and so close to downtown. It was easy to take 17th Street to Target and there’s lots of coffee shops within a ten minute walk. This is a unique property, with gates that keep the area safe and clean. As a solo traveler, I was incredibly happy and relaxed staying here.
I struggled with a lack of counter space in the bathroom, but managed!

Kari was a fabulous host! Easy check in, easy parking. Vary walkable to restaurants, etc. The place was very clean, and had all the amenities that we needed four our stay. Would definitely recommend
We really didnt have anything we felt was missing for our short stay.

Great bed. Very comfy. Warm and well insulated.
No regular coffee cups. Just decorative ones, 2 of which were too small for a small cup of Keurig coffee.

The unit itself was clean and the price was competitive, but several aspects of the stay were not clear from the listing and affected the overall experience.
The property is listed as having street parking available. Upon arrival in the evening, I was advised that parking might require parking a block or more away and that it becomes busy later at night. There was no designated or guaranteed legal parking associated with the property, which made arrival and coming and going inconvenient.
Additionally, there were a number of detailed house rules that affected comfort, including specific cleaning expectations and restrictions on changing TV settings. While this may be manageable for some guests, it felt more restrictive than expected and added stress to the stay.
The room was also exceptionally noisy due to thin walls, other guests, and upstairs banging. This is somewhat understandable given that the building is an older home, but it will be an issue for light sleepers.
This property may work for guests who are comfortable with street parking variability, strict house rules, and noise, but those expecting a more comfortable and quieter stay should consider these factors

The location was great. Very peaceful.
The mattress could use an upgrade, and the couch in the sitting area was very uncomfortable

The location is less than 20 minutes from the airport, yet marvelously quaint. The old neighborhood has lovely historic architecture and a lovely canopy of trees.
Every detail about the rooms exudes the host’s love of the house and hosting. The bed is quite comfortable. I lacked nothing.

The location was great. We were able to walk to the farmer's market and downtown area, and didn't have to use the car once. The parking was street parking but was safe and the neighborhood quiet. A lot of space for multiple people, and a kitchenette for preparing simple meals (no stove but microwave and toaster oven).
The WiFi was unusable anywhere but the living room and/ or kitchen, and even then the speed was poor enough to not even be able to stream video. The ranger extender that the hosts are using is not adequate enough to cover the suite. In addition, the air conditioner is turned off at night. The host has stated in other responses that their thermostat upstairs reads a cool temperature, but this will NOT be the case, especially in the bedroom where you will sleep.
Also the bathroom walls are literally made out of Styrofoam. Do not bump them or you will damage them. I didn't know the Victorians covered their walls in Styrofoam and fake stick on tile. Or used vinyl floors. The decor is not historically appropriate as a house that markets itself as such, and was put up quickly as a rental unit, not to complement the age or historical time period of the home.

It was in a good location, not too far away from the city and other things to do. We went to a coffee shop for breakfast and their sandwiches were amazing.

It was very charming, the host was super nice, very cool history about the building, and in a great location to access everything downtown. It was clean, comfortable, well stocked, and fantastic value.
It's an original building, and we were there on a 105° day, so the A/C wasn't ice cold. That was an easy fix though, as we found a full sized fan in the living room area that cooled it down wonderfully. That's not a knock against the establishment, for an historical building we were pleased to have any A/C at all, and the fan fixed everything.

We enjoyed learning about the history of the house we stayed in; its character was beautiful. The temperature in our room was comfortable, even though there was just a fan. The bed was the comfiest one we’ve ever slept on. The walkability of the location was fantastic. In just 20 minutes, we had dinner, visited several shops, and walked back to our accommodation. It was a refreshing change not to have to use our car, and it was really nice to explore the area on foot. We loved seeing all the old-style homes around the neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again—10/10!
the only thing that could have been better was having a floor lamp in the little living room area. But we are more low light people then over head light people. There could have been a little hook on the wall for the keys to be stored when in the room.

The room was clean and comfortable. The rate was ideal for an overnight stay.
I walked out to load up my bags into my car, and as I opened the door, there was a man passed out on the lawn.

It was absolutely adorable the way she has it decorated. I loved it so much. Too bad we were there for less than 12 hours.
The bed was a tad uncomfortable and someone was vacuuming upstairs while we were trying to fall asleep.

Nothing! It was perfect!

Quaint, Victorian, quiet.
Can hear the dog barking upstairs and the shower in the next room. I think it’s probably not likely guests will squeegee the shower, though. More coffee would have been appreciated!

Irene House was an ideal stay for my very short stint in Sacramento. It’s a very quaint and cute building and it’s easy to see the place is treasured and looked after. In particular for solo travellers, I would recommend it and the host was also very communicative and helpful.

It was very reasonably priced for the area, we were walking distance from many restaurants and from the Capital. (About 1 mile to Capital - but several places to eat were closer than that. The host was fabulous. We recieved a text in route asking our arrival time. It worked out so that we could meet when we arrived. Not only were all the necessary details shared, but there were also strategic signs placed around the place as well as an information booklet to answer our questions. Traveling with our grown daugher for an award my husband was to receive, we liked that there were two separage sleeping areas. The bed and sleeper sofa were both good beds and confmortable. Not Luxury - but solidly comfortable and given the cost savings between there and an hotel stay. It was quite perfect for our needs.
You need a parking pass (THe host will provide if you ask for it.) But without it the local streets are 2 hour parking and can be full. We were mostly lucky and found parking, but we only had one vehicle.

Very quaint victorian duplex. Was actually quite spacious, with living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. More than enough room for two. Host was very attentive and thorough. Location is great. Plenty of off street parking, too.
There were some fleas. Especially in dining room. It could use a flea spraying. It was a minor detail, because everything else was so charming.
