About this house rental
Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is proud to present "On A Lark"! This home sleeps up to 4 adults and 1 child.
Location
Just one block off of upper Ocean Avenue, this delightful 1,400 sf Carmel cottage offers many updates and fresh amenities while retaining the charm of yesteryear and special vintage touches throughout.
An easy downhill stroll takes you into downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea for world-class dining and shopping, even a farmer's market, and the large sandy beach at the end of Ocean Avenue, but remember, it is uphill on the way back. This fantastic Carmel location also gives you easy access to all Monterey Peninsula attractions, Point Lobos State Reserve, Big Sur, Santa Cruz and the wine country of Monterey County in Carmel Valley.
Living Spaces
The spacious living room is warm and comfortable with sofas and armchairs near the gas fireplace and wall-mounted TV. Windows look out onto the garden and front patio area. Redwood walls and ceilings have been lightened and brightened with a white-wash-style finish which give a fresh take on the old-Carmel architecture. New windows and window coverings reflect the care the Homeowners have put into updating many aspects of the home. Well-equipped for extended stays!
Kitchen and Dining
The fully-equipped kitchen has ample storage, modern stainless steel appliances and redwood cabinetry. The kitchen extends into the adjacent laundry room for additional storage for kitchenware, pantry items and small appliances including a microwave, toaster, blender, coffee grinder and mixer. A dual style coffeemaker allows for conventional drip brewing and single cup Keurig style brewing.
The nearby dining table seats 4-5.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Bedroom #1 has a king bed and a TV.
Bedroom #2 has a queen bed and a TV.
The full hall bathroom has a shower-over-tub with vintage mid-century tile.
The Den has a twin bed and an en suite bathroom with a standing shower and vintage tile work.
Outdoors
The lovely garden is where it's at and front and rear patio seating areas and the covered porch provide multiple seating options when you want to spend time outside. Fencing and mature landscaping make both front and rear garden areas quite private and many types of birds are seen frequenting the property.
Street parking is available in front of the home or beside the home which sits on a corner lot. The garage is not available for guest use.

We stayed the month of August in Carmel - a very busy month for the Monterey Peninsula. Our stat at On a Lark was peaceful and the weather was fantastic. Car Week occurs in August, so traffic was a mess. But - On a Lark's location within a quarter mile of the village of Carmel meant we could walk to town. The house was beautiful for two people, with a two baths and a great spot to work. The property was clean and compact. We will definitely return.

Review On a LarkThe house and yard are excellent. The home decor and floor plan are welcoming, clean, well functioning and maintained. It has new electrical, flooring, plumbing, heat, and windows; everything is updated but the decor is consistent with the original age of the house, 1950. The house is a tenants dream. Location is most convenient to town and highway one. It is a quiet location, two blocks up from the Mission Trail nature preserve trailhead.Sanctuary Rentals has been a joy to work with. I have worked with two other major short term rental agencies on the peninsula, as well as Vrbo, and this has been the best experience.
