Aire de Picos Sur is on the far edge of the very charming, magnificently located village of Brez. Staying here gives a real sense of what it is like to live a remote and simple life. There are no facilities in the village, just a few residents going about their daily lives. It's a real authentic experience with very few tourists around so respect for the local residents is imperative. There are dogs wandering around the village, but they are gentle and docile to visiting humans.
The house itself has been tastefully renovated, whilst retaining a "mountain house" feel. It has good WiFi and a big smart TV and is very comfortably furnished and well equipped. The main town of Potes is a 15 minute drive away if you need supplies or eateries. We stocked up on the way here and spent 4 nights just enjoying walks from the house, driving into the Camaleno valley and just watching the locals go about their daily farming activities. The birdlife here is excellent, with black kites, buzzards, vultures, swifts and swallows galore and a host of garden birds filling the air with birdsong.....just magical.
The views from the house and terrace are simply stunning and there is good outside furniture and a BBQ to enjoy it all. Also there is a wonderful 6k hike from the house which is a must to do.
Let's talk about the drive in to the property... It is tricky to say the least and leaving the car at the entrance to the village might be your preferred option. I recommend you park there first and walk to the house to see if you feel confident to drive it. We drove the car to the house on the first and last day. It's a Skoda Superb saloon, quite big with a low clearance. It's not so much the size but the clearance that could be an issue. An SUV should manage it better. In any event it will require good skills and a mix of forward and reverse manoeuvres!
Finally, Cris is a good host and is very attentive should you need anything.
Just a suggestion... an electric fan would be useful. We were there during an unusual heatwave and the house was very warm. There are no fly screens on the windows so it was difficult sleep in the unexpected heat. It's probably not something that is usually an issue!

Die Lage in dem kleinen Bergdörfchen und der Blick ist unvergleichlich. Dabei sind es nur ca 15 min mit dem Auto nach Potes. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und hat eine wunderschöne Terasse. Bei der Ankunft hat Mario auf uns gewartet und zum Haus geführt. Am besten ist es, das Auto am Ortseingang stehen zu lassen, da die Fahrt durch die steilen Engen Gassen im Ort etwas abenteurlich ist. Es sind nur wenige Meter zu Laufen.
Es gibt nichts auszusetzen, bis auf ganz kleine Kleinigkeiten - wie eine fehlende Ablage in der Dusche und vielleicht ein paar Garderobehaken. Aber ansonsten ist alles wirklich sehr schön eingerichtet und alles Nötige vorhanden.
