O Recanto combines comfort, tradition, and simplicity in perfect harmony with the mountains of Alto Minho.
It features a house with a balcony and garden that sleeps 2 to 3 people, overlooking a lush green landscape that makes it a harmonious and cozy space. We are located within the Peneda-Gerês National Park, 5 minutes from the center of Ponte da Barca, 15 minutes from the village of Aceredo, 35 minutes from Viana do Castelo and Braga, and 1 hour from Porto.
The house offers free Wi-Fi (fiber), perfect for those looking for a place to work remotely, and features a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom with a living area, a balcony with mountain views, a garden, a terrace, and a private entrance. The bedroom has a double bed and a sofa bed, with access to the balcony and mountain views, and features a flat-screen LED TV, closet, air conditioning, and heater. The balcony has a table and chairs. The kitchen includes a dining area and is equipped with cooking utensils, dishes, an electric stovetop, an exhaust fan, a microwave/mini-oven, a kettle, and a refrigerator. The bathroom has a shower stall, air conditioning, and is equipped with a hair dryer, toilet paper, and toiletries. The outdoor area features a small garden and deck, a terrace, a dining table and chairs, a beach umbrella, and a mini-barbecue.
Guests are provided with bed linens and bath towels.
The host speaks several languages and is available 24 hours a day to assist guests and accommodate any special requests.
A breakfast basket is not included but can be provided upon request for a small additional fee. A crib is also available upon request, at no charge.
History of the house:
Recanto Tia São Magalhães is a restored house that owes its name to great-grandmother Maria da Conceição Magalhães, affectionately known to everyone in the village as Tia São. Tia São, born in 1910, lived in this house (first floor) and ran her business (first floor): a small tavern. At the tavern, she sold (and extended credit for) a little bit of everything: from beer to the legendary Sumol, from bread with marmalade to chocolates, from bulk rice to bottled milk. This place even served as the post office for the village of Marialva, where everyone came to pick up their mail. The tavern was a gathering place for many generations of the village, the setting for many moments of fellowship, and Tia São’s kindness and helpfulness are remembered by everyone with great nostalgia. This project was created in her honor—we do not want her to be forgotten—and that is why it bears her name, continuing her tradition of warm hospitality and service.
