About this house rental

Nestled in the heart of the charming South Devon coastal village of Bantham, this spacious 4 bedroom single storey property boasts a large modern open plan living space with fabulous views across the beautiful Avon estuary spanning out to the magical Burgh Island and Celtic Sea beyond. This delightful welcoming family home truly has everything you could wish for with spectacular views, central peaceful village location and only a few minutes walk from the wonderful golden sands of Bantham Beach.

Beautiful Bantham beach is lovingly described as a tiny jewel along this stretch of stunning coastline. The sapphire blue sea and golden sands make this an unforgettable holiday destination. The waves attract surfers from all around the world but if you prefer a more relaxing stint on the water, Bantham Surf Academy will helpfully provide you with paddleboards, kayaks, wetsuits and all the information you need. Instructors are available to take you out in groups or one-one sessions if you fancy some extra tuition.
Just minutes from here is the pretty harbour, where you can while away the hours crabbing, sailing, or just watching the boats go by.
The Gastrobuses are a regular summer feature on the beach. Gourmet burgers, Devon ice-cream and amazing sandwiches are readily available all through the summer. Throw in some regular pizza nights with some live music and you’ve got yourself the perfect evening.
The village itself is host to a fantastic pub/restaurant - The Sloop Inn. Here you can find delicious freshly cooked meals, an ever changing selection of creative daily specials using some of the freshest fish, meat and game and the finest local produce Devon has to offer. Head up to the village shop which stocks a great range of groceries, newspapers, freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as all your holiday essential including wetsuits, bodyboards and buckets & spades. Its beautiful terrace cafe produces a spectacular Devon Cream Tea which you can sample whilst overlooking the estuary and debating the age old question; Jam or Cream first?

There is currently a limited garden boundary between the rear garden of Carew and the garden of the neighbouring property of White Horses, please respect the privacy of anybody using the garden at White Horses during your stay and likewise anybody staying at White Horses are requested to respect the garden privacy of anybody staying at Carew.

Upon arrival, you are welcomed to the property by large wooden gates that open onto the driveway suitable for 2-3 cars. From the driveway, a few steps drop down to the front door with a large wooden bench perfect for catching the morning sun.

Entering through the front door, you are welcomed by a spacious light and airy entrance hall with ample storage space for coats, shoes, boots and all your beach essentials. A utility cupboard houses a washer dryer.

From the hallway you enter the highlight of this delightful property, which is the open-plan kitchen, living and dining space - the perfect place to relax and entertain. The large galley kitchen area includes great wall and base cupboards, a large American-style fridge freezer, Neff electric oven and halogen hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, microwave, and wine rack. The counter separating the kitchen from the living area is utilised as a breakfast bar with 4 stools to perch upon. The dining room area includes a large kitchen table to seat 8 guests.

The bright and spacious living area includes a large L-shaped sofa with comfy cushions, a coffee table, a TV, and a log burner. Large sliding patio doors transform the lounge into a marvellous indoor, outdoor living space. The patio doors from the living room open out onto a large patio area, overlooking the breath-taking Avon Estuary and the famous, iconic Burgh Island. The garden features gorgeous wildflowers, and a path that leads down to the launching dock on the estuary. As the sun sets over the water, guests can dine alfresco in the stunning surroundings, creating memories to cherish for a lifetime.

The large hallway leads to 4 spacious bedrooms, the master bedroom is a gorgeously bright bedroom boasts a king size bed, built in wardrobes and has a large window overlooking the garden, across to stunning views of the Avon Estuary.

A large family suite hosts a generous double bedroom with built in wardrobe and useful wash basin, This bedroom leads into a large twin bedroom with large sliding doors that lead onto the patio and into the garden.

The fourth bedroom which overlooks the front garden has 2 single beds, a dressing table and set of drawers.

The property hosts two bathrooms, to the left of the entrance hall, there is a small bathroom with a toilet, basin, and enclosed shower and to the right a very large wet room with shower, toilet and basin, ideal for washing off sandy children after a day on the beach.

This delightful abode truly has everything guests could wish for, from spectacular views and comfortable accommodations to a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Please note although the garden is exclusive to Carew, it is not enclosed from the footpath and neighbouring garden.

The South West Coast Path runs right past Bantham - A ferry is available to take you across the River Avon (Not available all year round) and nature lovers may just glimpse Kingfishers, Housemartins and Guillemots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Look towards the shoreline and occasionally they’ll be a shy seal among the rocks or even a playful dolphin. If you want to venture further afield, Kingsbridge and Salcombe are only a few miles away and the historic Tudor town of Totnes just slightly further.
'Outside Outside' activity centre and cafe, Woodlands Adventure Theme Park, South Devon Chilli Farm, and Kents Cavern are all nearby days out, particularly good for little ones. If you fancy a change from the coast, you can head inland to stunning Dartmoor National Park, with it’s magnificent Tors and wild ponies, it’s just a short drive away.
