A lovely base for our summer break! Loved swimming in the pool and very friendly and knowledgeable owner!

Ken and Sabine welcomed us into their wonderful home and made sure we had a memorable stay.

We loved the character of the building and the excellent pool. The hosts were always on hand to answer our queries and suggested places nearby to visit.

Fantastic fairytale retreat!

If you're looking for a rural out of the ordinary destination, then look no further. This property exceeded our expectations, I was taken a back as soon as we reached the property. I would describe this property as a medieval hidden secret garden. I felt like I had just stepped into a fairytale it was breathtakingly beautiful and was in absolute ore of the place. Ken who was out host greeted us upon arrival but also kept in contact with us in the lead up to our arrival which was very thoughtful and also very considerate as we were having major car problems and arrived outside of our arrival time. He gave us a tour of the property and grounds as well as described to us the history of the property. The couple have their own book out which talks about the history of the property as well as how they transformed it from an abandoned late 1500's (If I've remembered correctly) property into this spectacular hotel stay with multiple independent holiday homes. It is one of the most fascinating and interesting places we stayed on our trip and was gutted we only stayed for one night. Ken went out of his way to ensure that we were happy and we had everything we needed. The holiday home in which we stayed was amazing, it came with it's own kitchen and dining area, which also consisted with a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. It had two bedrooms alongside a shower room and separate toilet. The space was huge and you really have everything you need for a 2 week holiday. The pool for me was one of the best features of the property as it was situated looking out over the French hills. I enjoyed an early morning swim before we headed off that morning. The pool is heated so although the air temperature was cold the pool was lovely and warm. The breakfast was served in a separate part of the grounds which was situated in a really cool medieval living room with stone walls and floor. You will not be disappointed!!

Les Jardins de La Contie is a beautiful villa with lovely appartments, a very friendly and helpful host. The villa is situated in a beautiful quiet area from which it is easy to get to the various sites by car. The pool area is beautifully made. All in all we had a very lovely time here!

Like a children’s book, a place full of stories and history and magic. Comfortable, warm. Our host was great to us, putting all the effort to make us happy. Special mention to the fabulous breakfast. Just a special, lovely experience. So grateful.

Pleasant

It was very charming, the building is extremely old and full of character. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful and was very enthusiastic to tell us the history.

The upstairs bedroom was not appropriate for an adult. The stairs to each bedroom were steep and a bit slippery which made it awkward.

La localisation, le « vert », le charme de la bâtisse, la piscine, la déco de la chambre et la qualité de la literie.

Le manque d’intimité (caméras dans tous les coins, chambre mal isolée : nous entendions les autres voyageurs discutés lors de leur petit déjeuner la chambre étant au dessus…). Le petit déjeuner de qualité certes mais qui est très onéreux (9/10€ dans les autres chambres d’hôte de la région pour la même chose, voir mieux).

Calme et reposant !

Un bel endroit au calme et à l'abri des regards. Un bel accueil de son propriétaire mais attention,... il est bavard :-) (I'm jocking).

Un manque de confort au niveau de la literie (Si bien sûr on aime les matelas ferme !) Concernant le petit déjeuner, un breakfast salé aurait été apprécié... Et au grand désespoir de notre fille, la WIFI ! Qui dit calme, dit "no réseau", une expérience à vivre pour les ados...

Au calme

Maison pleine de caractère dans un lieu au calme. Propriété et propriétaires très sympathiques. Lieu atypique et de caractère. À de quoi dépayser !

Manque d'espace pour une famille avec un bébé. La mezzanine permet d'accueillir des enfants mais n'est pas isolée du reste du groupe et ne permet pas d'y mettre un lit parapluie ou un lit bébé. Ne passe pas la trappe... Les vieilles pierres ramènent leur lot d'insectes, poussière et souris. La multitude de caméras de vidéo surveillance sur place à l'extérieur rassure sans doute certaines personnes, mais on se sent un peu épié... Quand on fait abstraction du vis à vis de la chambre principale.
