entrance and access - particularly stairs were challenging. the entrance hallway was in very poor condition with steep uneven stairs and unsafe handrail.

No tiene parking cuando dice que lo tiene. No se puede llegar con coche. Caminamos 1500 metros con valijas sobre empedrado. Hay cosas que Booking no informa.

The apartment is close to the center of the old part of Cefalu. The building is old, like nearly all the buildings in the old part of Cefalu, but the apartment was brand new. Apparently, it was refurbished recently and it was very clean.

The message that I received from the person responsible for the apartment was not clear. In particular, it did not specify in which of the three boxes on the wall the keys were. After sending a message to him, someone came and opened the proper box for us. We got into the apartment, but the code that I received for the wifi was wrong. Therefore, no wifi the first night. Worse than this, there was no signal for our cell phones!!! It remained like this during our entire stay. I order to use our cell phones, we had to get out of the apartment, on the street. The second day, I called the responsible person, but he did not answer. He sent me a message telling me to communicate with him only by messages. Later, I understood that his English was extremely poor. Apparently, he used a translator to read my messages, wrote his replies in Italian, and the translator converted them to English. As a result, some of his replies did not make sense. The second day, he gave us the correct wifi code and from then on we could communicate with the outside world from the apartment via Viber or WhatsApp only. Our cell phones connected to the cell-phone company only outside the apartment!!! Never inside. Another surprise for us was that the hot water was enough for one person. My wife had to complete her first shower with cold water. I asked the responsible person to come to the apartment to show us how to have hot water. He came and showed us a switch, next to a light switch, which we had accidentally turned off in our attempt to turn on the lights. We thought that it was a switch that was not connected with any light. To make a long story short, if the person responsible for the apartment met us when we arrived and explained to us, even with his poor English, the various things in the apartment (i.e., a total of 10 minutes), we would have no complaints. He and I spend much more than 10 minutes sending messages to each other.
