We arrived in Lingayen carrying grief, exhaustion, a one-year-old, and the lingering itch of insect bites from what can only be described as a horror motel disguised as a hotel. cough Bergamo. Who said that. At 11 p.m., desperate and already negotiating with fate, I booked River Palm Hotel. It was slightly more expensive than other accommodations in the area, which in hindsight was the most comforting red flag I’ve ever paid for. River Palm turned out to be our savior. From the moment we walked in, it felt like oxygen. The place was immaculately clean. Not “provincial clean,” not “newly wiped surfaces but questionable corners” clean. Manila-Boracay-Coron-Palawan clean. The kind of clean that lets your shoulders drop an inch because your nervous system finally believes you’re safe. I later learned the hotel is about three years old, but it honestly felt like it had just opened a few months ago and was still trying to impress its favorite aunt. Amenities were complete and thoughtfully done: hair dryer, toothbrush, shower gel, shampoo, soap. All individual. No giant refillable dispensers, which, if you’ve read anything recently, are basically petri dishes with branding. This mattered more than I expected, especially after the night we’d had. And the water. Dear god, the water. Clear. Clean. Not hard. Not metallic. Not tasting like rusted nails, which, for reasons unknown, seems to be the regional flavor profile within a ten-mile radius, including places that proudly call themselves “three-star.” Showering here felt like a reset. The pool was pristine. I know this because I watched them clean it every single day, even when no one swam except us for roughly ten minutes one evening. There was something quietly reassuring about that. Standards, even without an audience. We didn’t book breakfast, but honestly, if this hotel gets the recognition it deserves, I wouldn’t be surprised if breakfast becomes a default. What it already offers is something harder to quantify: comfort. After long days of mourning, it was a relief to come back to a room with clean sheets, proper quiet, and a bed that felt uncannily like the ones at Shangri-La Boracay. I slept deeply. Grief didn’t disappear, but it rested with me. The manager, whose name I sadly forgot, was warm, capable, and gracious. She gave us a complimentary early check-in when we arrived two hours ahead of time. It wasn’t flashy kindness. Just humane. In the morning, we walked to their small dock by the river and watched the sunrise. Soft light, still water, a pause before the day demanded things again. It felt like my grandmother giving us one gentle morning before she was laid to rest. Thank you, River Palm Hotel. You didn’t just give us a place to stay. You gave us rest when we badly needed it. And somehow, you made us look forward to returning to Lingayen again. Which, after everything, feels like a small miracle.

Hotel was up to mark interms of comfort and cleanliness. However it us advertised at Riviera Palm resort but the riverside was bear and no activities at all. NOW the resturant was very disapointing.I wasnt hungry but was with my wife .She ordered grilled pork belly and garlic rice.Took about 15 minutes times wise ok but it was served to her cold not even warm,and also it had been fried rather than grilled. So why it took 15 minutes I dont understand even more disapointing was when she complained it was taken away and brought back microwaved.Even the rice was cold again microwaved and re served.At breakfast choice was limited and scrambked eggs looked very dry discoloured and looked like it was prepared the previous night.Would stay there but would not eat dinner breakfast or any other meal.
