Himawari-Kan Standard room Male only - Vacation STAY 74345v

Let's start with the good. The staff here are incredibly personable, and nice! I'm pretty terrible at Japanese, but despite that, the check-in process was incredibly easy, and straight forward. The staff were very nice, making conversation with me, and they attempted to speak in English when they could! (That being said. Please know that if you know absolutely no Japanese, you're gonna have a bad time). The other good was that the room itself is a studio. So you do have privacy. Oh, and they gave me a water for free. So that was kinda cool I guess. That's it. Everything else was rough lol. The room itself is incredibly bare, but I mean, you don't need a lot of stuff. It has an AC, a couple coat hangers, a tatami mat floor? And your bedding. The bedding wasn't very good, pretty thin, and the pillow was tiny, I'm sure you could request more bedding when the staff is here, but that would require the staff to be here (we'll get more into that in a moment.) The room kinda smells? I'm not sure how I should put it, but it's definitely more pungent than Tatami normally is, but tbh, I can overlook that. What I can't are the facilities. So each floor has a communal bathroom, that's fine. The restroom always felt kinda wet? For lack of a better word. It smelled not great in there as well, and honestly I tried to spend as little time at the restroom as possible. The showers on the other hand were the worst I've seen in Japan. Period. Ok the first floor are the showers, there are two, and they're both Coin operated showers. Yep, that's right, you have to pay to use the showers. Did I mention you also don't get a towel or anything 🫠. Rather stupidly, I saw this online, and didn't care too much. I've roughed it at places before, and while it sucks to have to toss a couple hundred yen to shower, and to pack a towel, I was fine with it. The showers were absolutely disgusting. Discolored floors, flith caked in crevasses, another strange odor. And the cherry on top, a thick, tangled, mound of hair the size of a Baked Potato chilling on a shelf. Someone must have shaved a massive beard, or their head or something, but I have literally never seen anything like it. I immediately noped out of there and decided that I was going to go to a relatively nearby Manga Cafe to shower instead. Now, maybe all of this can be ignored by you? Idk, but something that I think no one can ignore is the check in window. Now, earlier, I said the check in process was easy, and it is! But here's the kicker. It's one f***ING hour. 1 HOUR, from 3 to 4pm. That's absolutely unacceptable, they do say they're willing to extend the window for you, if you're arriving late for instance. And to their credit, they did attempt to do so. However, in my experience. The limit to their extension is 6pm. When I told them I missed a train, and that I would likely be there around 6:30, they essentially told me I was SOL and that they could cancel my entire stay and give me my money back, or that I could check in the next day, but that I would not be able to check in that night. A lesser man would have just taken the L and canceled, but after I heard that I knew I had to stay here. I had to see what it was like, if what everyone said about this place was true. And unfortunately, it absolutely was. Don't stay here. Please, just don't. This was by far the worst place I've stayed for the money. I didn't even talk about how loud the other guests were, how I could hear everything everyone was doing. I payed around 1*****yen a night, and I feel like blowing my money on an obscure gacha game no one has ever heard of would have been a better use of my money. I've stayed at capsule hotels, and hostels that cost as low as 1**** yen a night, and had an infinitely better experience. Again, the workers were great, but man, the hotel was not!
