The house was overall very nice. Right size, clean and everything needed was present. The contact with the owner was quick.

The restrictions in regards of cooking was way to high. Cooking always causes some smell, you can't avoid that.

This is a two story stand alone dwelling located within a couple of blocks of the lake. There is easy public transport that makes it only ~15 minutes to Kyoto. The Keihan line can get you to the main JR line without the climb back up the hill in the heat if you like. The unit was serviced twice in the 6 days we were there and the interaction with the nice man who came to help was lovely. The weather was dreadful unfortunately - I had hoped the heatwave would have dissipated by the time of our visit, but we appreciated the very good AC. Our daughter loved the tatami room and the large bedroom with four beds together was comfortable for two grandparents and a grand daughter. The staircase is a typically steep Japanese challenge. The kitchen was wonderful and there are two bar fridges downstairs. The washing machine was very useful. We have been to Japan many times over the years and this was the standout from an accommodation perspective. I would love to come again when the weather is better.

The weather! not their fault. Google maps sent us to the wrong Weekly House - again not the hosts fault.

It was a great mix of traditional and contemporary Japanese styling. The tatami rooms were beautiful, and the kitchen and laundry and lounge area were welcomed and the wifi was lightning fast. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t catered for.

The stairs could be a challenge for some people but we’re ok. It was a bit cold on the hallways getting from the bedroom to the dining room/ lounge area but nothing crazy.
