Thiama Apartment in Corfu Port

The apartment was a good size and clean, we used the washing machine a few times and it worked well, it was very new. There was a drying rack on the balcony and we managed our laundry easily. The WiFi worked well and there was a coffee maker that we already had the correct pods for! Although there was a dishwasher, there were no tablets so we washed up by hand. There is a bakery very close by along with a mini market and an Ouzeri at the end of the street. Air conditioning was quiet and efficient.

We didn't like the cockroach we found in the bathroom, apparently quite common according to our team. I did manage to despatch it and no others came looking for it. There is a lot of aircraft noise as the location is close to the airport, not an issue for us.

The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and matched the photos well. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was a good size, and having a washing machine was a very useful bonus during our trip. The apartment was also clean when we arrived, and free Wi-Fi was available. The location worked well for us. It was within walking distance of the main part of Corfu Town and also very close to the port, which would be especially convenient for anyone travelling by ferry.

There was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom area during our stay, which seemed to be a sewage-related smell. The surrounding area was also not the most charming part of town, although it was still walkable and the location remained practical overall.

Our host was very communicative and gave me useful information about the area. The apartment had everything we needed including a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry machine, and we especially liked the wrap-around balcony, which you could enter from the bedroom or the main living area. The bathroom was fully-stocked with toiletries and we loved the added touches such as the slippers. The location was conveniently located by the ferry port and there were several supermarkets within short walking distance.

The main door to the building wasn't locked, which could be a slight security risk. The building itself had signs of damp and smelt but the apartment itself was well maintained. The bathroom had a tendency to get wet because the shower was only half enclosed by a glass panel. The door was hard to open with the key initially as it took a certain knack and it would have been great to know this before the host left but she was prompt at communicating when I messaged in a panic that I'd locked myself out! Unfortunately, we didn't sleep well as we kept waking up to the sound of people flushing the toilet/having a shower as the pipes are old. Would recommend bringing earplugs. The instructions to take rubbish out at the end of our stay were not clear, as there were no bins immediately outside the vicinity and we had to walk a few streets away to discard our bin bags.
