FAV LUX Hida Takayama

I loved the room. It was enormous (Modern Japanese with private bath), comfortable, with a lot of space to feel at ease. It had a huge terrace with a view to the Japanese Alps. It was provided with a small fridge which was really appreciated to have cold drinks, especially with the hot and extremely humid weather we were having. We could enjoy our private bath with views, which was a gift. The hotel was conveniently located, 2 minutes from train/bus station and 10 minutes' walk to the town centre. It offers private sauna/bath to customers (with a charge) and we tried it. It was great. The place is a haven of peace. Congrats! We really had a relaxing and renovating stay. Arigato Natsumi. You are a nice receptionist and an excellent girl.

What I did not like was breakfast. They have an agreement with the bar on the ground floor and you have to choose from 4 different types of options. The problem is that it is not enough to give you sufficient energy to get by. It consits of a drink and a dish, half of which is a salad and the other half is two toasts of bread (one with egg and bacon, and the other one with a small tomate and a little cheese). It sounds great, but let me tell you it is more bread than egg/bacon and tomato/cheese. It is that scarce. If I come back, I would not book the breakfast because in Japan food is better and more hearty than this. I understand that maybe they cannot put a buffet but it should be at least a more solid breakfast. This is just positive criticism.

FAV LUX is a modern hotel in a superb location, literally just a four-minute walk from Takayama Station and the main bus station. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and check-in was smooth and easy. The room was a good size for a family and included a small kitchenette with a microwave, which was very useful. It was also clean, comfortable and well suited to our stay.

Limited breakfast choices. Room was not cleaned every day.

Our room was very big which was super convenient for our 4 nights stay, View was also great. Room was modern. Location was excellent by the train station and 7 mins walk to the old town. The coffee shop at the end trace that made cappuccino.

Nothing. Please note breakfast offers is basic but for us it was perfect.

Location

For claiming you’re a luxurious hotel it didn’t feel luxurious at times. The room was decently cleaned, but there were stains all over the carpet. Stains on the couch couches in the Check-in area. The hall smells terrible.
