There was no heating or hot water for the duration of our two-night stay. This was challenging because the weather is not warm at the moment. Not being able to have a hot shower was tricky given we were there to hike / run! When we googled “Marske stables hot water” we found that this has been an issue several times for other guests in the past couple of months, which is disappointing to see.

Beautiful decor. So peaceful and quiet
Could have been cleaner. Dog hairs on the floor. Cobwebs in the bedroom and bathroom.

Stunning location, lovely and peaceful, we stayed in the Nijinsky cottage, which was cozy and warm on entering, which was great, as it had snowed quite a bit! Under floor heating throughout, we had read a couple of reviews to expect no hot water or heating, so we came prepared for this! But we found the cottage very comfortable and warm, through the night perhaps too warm, but you can control the temperature to suit your needs easily enough. The bed was very comfortable with quality bedding, we only heard an Owl on an evening! Our bathroom window ledge was a roosting place for the resident peacock Freddy
, it was a lovely surprise to see him through the window when I went in the bathroom in the evening!
The kitchen has everything you need to accommodate you if you stay in to dine.
We ventured into Richmond a couple of times, which is a lovely historical market town, with plenty of shops and eateries to suit everyone.
On the morning of check out we packed the car up, left it there, and went for a river walk just down the road from the stables which was nice, as still a bit of snow on the ground.
All in all there was very little to dislike about the cottage, if I was to mention anything it would be the cobwebs, thankfully I didn't see their residents, so I was fine, they were all high up, except one in the lounge window, I feel the large overhead lights could have been cleaner, but again, it didn't have any effect on our stay.
The toilet/shower room could do with some hooks for your towel just by the side of the shower cubicle, and perhaps a shelf to place your wash bag on, Inside the shower would benefit from some shelving for the washing products to go on instead of the shower floor, and the seal of the door was broken slightly.
Perhaps a door curtain over the entrance to the accomodation, would be beneficial too in cold weather.

Only thing I could think of is maybe put a sign next to key box telling you it's not that door to use with an arrow pointing to which door the key works in. I was trying to get into the wrong door ( the one next to key box)in the rain

Nothing
Avoid this place. The management are on another planet. We had no heating or hot water for 2 days. We called 4 times on Saturday afternoon to state theres no hot water or heating. Sent WhatsApp'd, text messages and emails to no avail. The next day house keeping claimed they had sent an emergency plumber out which wasn't true. I spoke to 3 other couples at the stables and they had same problem. To this day no one has called to explain or apologise. Ruined the end of our holiday and didn't was for 2 days! Shame on the owners

The location and building are lovely and there's plenty of parking and Peacocks.
We were without heating and hot water all weekend in January. The 'on site' contact never responded to numerous calls and messages on their phone number. We finally contacted booking.com and we were given some fan heaters which weren't up to the job. The temperature is now 15 degrees and falling.
The whole place needs a clean, cobwebs everywhere, bits of food in the cutlery trays, broken table leg supports, draught excluders that only cover some of the door we had to use towels to stop the wind. The kitchens were under equipped but luckily we had rented both Sawmill Cottages (Woodcutter & Farrier) so we kept borrowing items from each other. By Saturday night we were all eating on one cottage so we could put all the heaters in one place. We managed to get the temperature up to 16 degrees. I'm glad we had rented both cottages, as there's no privacy in the living area,
I could go on, but I think you get the idea...
We contacted the property on our return and we were given a 50% refund. There was no discussion and despite messaging them, we haven't been responded to since. We have still been charged over £500 as apparently Heating and Hot Water are not essential in January.

We loved how peaceful and beautiful the setting was perfect for a relaxing break. The Northern Dancer apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed for the weekend.
The stairs were a little steep but manageable. The only other minor issue was the lack of lighting around the car park, we had to use a torch when walking the dog and going to the car at night and on arrival.

Great, place and great location to switch off. The apartments are well designed with character.
Very dark at night, hard to find driving there at night, some security lighting around the outside of the stables would be beneficial.

Absolutely stunning, from entering the grounds and the property we felt in luxury,
The boiler was in the bedroom and was very very loud for the first night, my partner had to turn the boiler off so I could get some sleep, it sounded like a hot tub jacuzzi being constantly turned on

The Eclipse cottage is a great size for 6 people, 4 adults and 2 children, it had everything we needed. Lovely location. Very relaxing place to stay.
There was nothing we didn’t like

Sometimes there was no hot water ( we were there when every apartment was booked up so it was busy )

Lovely apartment, great grounds with lovely walks close by. Comfortable beds, well decorated, thermostat in each room and a well equipped kitchen. Loved the jacuzzi bath and a very hot shower.
Think there should have been a Christmas tree in the apartment

No user guides/instructions for WiFi, heating etc
Would be nice to have information on local walks, taxi numbers etc

The property is stunning and a great location for exploring the dales.
We stayed in one of the upstairs apartments with the jacuzzi bath…..wow wow it is massive 😂
It’s clean, comfortable and had everything you could need.
For us it would’ve been good to have a hook for towels near the shower.

Beautifully maintained period property with tastefully decorated bedrooms, living room, modern bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. Lots of outside space and the hosts and staff were very helpful and understanding. Great for countryside walks.
When we went there was a storm (Amy) so the heating was down in one of the cottages. The owners kindly compensated for this by providing lots of portable heaters.

Nothing to dislike

Wonderful place - different and a little querky with a great horsey history. The staff that visited the site daily were wonderful and very helpful - The venue provided us an excellent site for our very special family gathering and its based in a beautiful location which was at it's autumn best for our visit. Definitely worthy of a return visit.
Heating systems can be a little tempremental but really nothing to dislike - everything was perfect

It was beautifully decorated and designed. Very tasteful. Set it a lovely location
Not sure where cleaning items were, no hoover, cleaning supplies. Also not sure how to leave the property as no hand book in the property. We just followed what we would usually do upon leaving the property.

High quality kitchen and equipment.
Very comfy bed and nice quality pillows and bedding.
Beautiful setting and wonderful views from windows.
Original windows, shutters and features
Felt very grand
Poor signage, no signs for hall parking or where to collect keys
No outdoor lighting on driveway or near doorway.
No privacy blind in the largest bathroom.
Changing our accomadation on the day from the apartment we had booked. No explanation given. I think this lead to the apartment not being cleaned to a high standard. (Food left under coffee table). Multiple dead flies on windowsill in smaller bathroom.
The amount of flies in the apartment. It was clear that they were getting in through the wooden windows. Over the 2 nights we could not keep up with the amount of dead flies in the bathroom and bedroom. Such a shame, and maybe not a problem to some, but im afraid it would stop us from rebooking this beautiful property.

We all enjoyed Eclipse cottage. There was 4 adults and 2 children. Plenty of space, and the children loved the jacuzzi and the peacocks wandering in the grounds. The interior of the cottage is a very high standard, with plenty of original features to enjoy.
We had issues with the heating system. We reported it and Chris the Estate manager came out to assess the situation and worked on the timer clocks to get the heating system working again. The boiler itself however, is very noisy and it is located in the living area, and in the master bedroom, sadly disturbing the sleep. The instruction manual did not explain how to change the thermostats, so we had to rely on help to sort the problem out. This was the only drawback.

Nice interior decor
No staff on site, and inflexible to my request to book one more night for one room only. Had to do all through bookings, which meant booking 2 nights, not one. We stayed elsewhere as a result.

Lovely stone features
A bit dark in the living/kitchen area even with all the lights on. Could have done with bigger bulbs. The lady who looked after the site was very easy to get hold of and very helpful. Thankyou

Great location, beautiful surroundings
Unfortunately upon arrival the accomodation we checked into was dirty, we were then moved into another accomodation which was alot cleaner but certain parts (bedrooms) still unclean with dirty stained underwear under the beds and kitchen had dirty pots with food stuck to them etc. Both acomodations were recleaned the day after we arrived by a lovely lady called Alisha who was very apologetic after seeing how it had been left by the cleaners. Came away to unwind and get married but unfortunately were met with numerous problems. Toilet also leaked when you flushed it onto the stone floor so smelled a bit. All problems reported to the number provided and to the site itself. Its a bit of a shame when you book and pay for luxury accomodation to be met with these kinds of things, especially when you have come away to get married.

We have stayed many times, we love the location and accommodation
It's is starting to look a bit shabby in places, the whirlpool bath didn't work

Very comfortable bed and good location
Had no hot water for 2 of 4 nights. They moved me to a different cottage when the boiler wasn’t working, but the last night no hot water there either.

Absolutely cannot fault this place at all. I booked holiday homes War Horse and Seabiscuit for me and my friends for my birthday and everything was so perfect. It comes fully equipped with everything you could need throughout your stay. It is in a lovely location, secluded but there are supermarkets within a 15 minute drive and some gorgeous walks to do around the local area. The hosts were super helpful and accommodating and I cannot recommend this place enough!

Lovely quiet location, a short drive into Richmond! Very clean, most comfortable bed I've stayed in! Clean and has everything you need!
Booked 3 holiday homes and everyone of them was amazing. Not a bad thing to say about this place, will be staying again!

The location is beautiful.
This could be a superb location but small things let it down:-
1. No mirror above the bathroom sink how do you shave or apply make-up?
2. No chain on the plug - difficult to release water.
3. No instructions for shower and labels not fixed - nearly burnt myself!
4. No instructions for TV
5. Insufficient cutlery for two let alone four people.

Beautiful setting, everything you needed for a short weekend break. The electric wasn’t working in one of the bedrooms but this was fixed very quickly
It is in the middle of nowhere so car is the only means of transport, however this is clear when booked, so it’s a matter of choice

Spacious, clean, incredible bathroom including jacuzzi bath, beautiful decor. Plenty of amenities. Well located close to Richmond and Catterick, but not too far from Leyburn and Wensleydale. Beautiful setting. Easy check in. Dog friendly for £25.
Miss sold as having two bathrooms, but didn’t. This was enquired about during the stay to no response. The beds were incredibly creaky - you couldn’t move in the night without waking someone up.

A truly superb location, with stunning views and truly awesome apartments.
The apartment was wonderfully comfortable, clean and big.
Getting around Yorkshire was super easy from here, as although just off the main roads, all are within a mile or so.
I think power is a bit of an issue as the dimmer switches had a few problems working properly at the site, common in older buildings with limited power supplies.
Also, don’t know who’s idea it was in the northern dancer apartment to put the TV 6ft up the wall and the chairs you would watch it from right below it… you have to laugh at that one.
