Quiet and stunning little place right by a beautiful beach

The manager was present when we arrived, lovely lady who was very supportive, explained all, gave advise etc. The location is in Mae Nam, one of the bays that’s next to one of the most crowded ones (Fisherman’s village), the more I appreciated to be a few kilometres away from the crowds. The Lemon House is a boutique hotel, it’s not new and hyper modern, but rather home-like. It’s 20 seconds walk to a beautiful beach. if you expect a luxury hotel with all amenities, then don’t go here.

Our apartment, well sized though, has sliding windows which rattled when a bit windy, and every night is was windy, which challenged a good night sleep. They should fix this, but it seems previous tenants used tissue to reduce the rattling, so we did the same. There’s one AC in the apartment, and it seemed a bit small for the size of the apartment, it stayed quite warm inside, though at the end of the night it had cooled down just nicely.

Location! Can’t beat it! 20m walk to the beach, 3 min walk to main rd with laundry, 7-eleven, food options. Hidden down a road helped keep the stay quiet and peaceful. The pool was good, small but did the job. I had room 3 downstairs and as a solo traveller it was big enough for me. Large fridge, great working air con and what looked like a recently renovated bathroom. Bed was comfy, and half way through my 8 night stay, I had it cleaned and it was no hassle for staff.

Breakfast times are strange (9-11am) as most hotels are 7-10am. This meant I could only have breakfast every second day due to planned activities/day excursions which left before 9am. Breakfast was quite nice and cooked to order. I’d suggest a self-service breakfast as an option (cereal, Toast, fruit, yoghurt) so travellers can grab and go without missing out no matter what time of the morning.

2 of the 3 staff members I met were truly lovely. The manager was professional, polite & accommodating & went out of her way to explain things or assist you. The other lady was delightful in her authenticity & unique style. Very friendly & welcoming & happy to assist where possible.. Unfortunately however, they could not change the uncomfortable situation I was in.

I felt, for the price, it was definitely NOT value for money. The room did not look like the advertisements. Aircon in only one room. The fans had to be on mega high to avoid a horrible repetitive noise. There was no ambience or character or "feeling"" in the room. Was plain, threadbare & uninspiring. The shower was not clean. I had half a shower once, in the whole week I was there. Really unsatisfactory. I did not look forward to coming back to the room at the end of each day. The T.V wasn't working the first few days. it was better when that was sorted. Very disappointing considering that for exactly the same price I could have had a villa at the Mais Samui~ a luxury resort.
