Best part was being on the lake with lake access. Also appreciated all the barbequing equipment, canoe/kayaks, outdoor lighting and overhead fans. Location is within hour of 3 of Arkansas's best state parks.
Owners are apparently remodeling/restoring interior and the photos of the living room ceiling are not currently accurate. The wooden deck has a floor joyce that needs to be replaced which makes part of the deck very wobbly. This can be managed by a balanced person but one of our party requires a walker and was limted to a small area on the deck. Priority should be given to this as it could be a legal problem if someone falls and is seriously injured.
Deck furnishings are worn out and need to be replaced.

The location is "in the woods." So if you want to get away, it's great. However, be prepared for bugs as any woods place has. Water access is awesome, The scenery is awesome of the water. The place has many opportunities for improvement to make it an awesome escape. For the price, it was a good getaway. I would rent it again.
The neighbors had dogs that came by and acted shy but loved to get into the trash. Then there were strange guys coming by using the area access to the water, which was strange when I thought it was for the cabin. About the old smell, well it's there but can be taken care of by use of candles so no big deal. Just a suggestion to the owners, if the rugs & curtains were washed regularly and the wood walls & cabinets wiped down with orange oil, that would remove the old smell. If a few updates and repairs were done, like the recliners replaced since 1 is broken, the boards on the deck need help, then add celling fans in the main room, then it would be really good. I could see paying more for it if the small repairs and updates were done.
