Bare Necessities was a great mountain home for our family to stay while preparing for our Daughters wedding in Luray over the weekend and a great place to relax afterwards for a few days! Very well accommodated and extremely clean! Thank you!

Our stay at "Bear Necessities" was wonderful. The rustic feel of the cabin made for a true mountain stay with amenities worthy of a city rental. Fully functional kitchen with everything you need prepare meals, table to accommodate our large crew. Huge covered porch with lots of rocking chairs made for relaxing afternoons with the family. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms made sleeping trouble-free. They even provided a spare air mattress and sleeping bags for the surprise guest. A loft with TV and video games allowed kids time away from parents on the ground floor. A grill made cookouts easy, and a nice fire pit made for a nice way to end the evenings. Lots of deer and fox sightings. Easy to get to local activities like the Luray Caverns, community pool, and local shops, restaurants, and historical locals. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a mountain escape with great accommodations. Hosts were fantastic.

This log home nestled in the woods is both beautiful and comfortable. It was the perfect place for our family to stay on our long weekend stay with our adult children. We used this as our homebase as we explored Shenandoah National Park, Luray, New Market, and Woodstock. The kitchen was well-stocked with the tools we needed to make our breakfasts and a nice dinner. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and making s'mores over a campfire. I would have loved to stay longer. I hope to stay there again in the future.

The place was spacious, clean, and very dog-friendly. It was quite close to the Shenandoah River where we spent a nice afternoon wading/swimming with the dogs. It's also close enough to some of the trailheads in the National Forest. However, it's quite a distance from the National Park, which we didn't realize at booking. It was reasonably equipped and furnished. The owners might want to think about adding more lighting--the place was a little on the dark side.
