Our stay at The River Cottage was absolutely wonderful — so much so that this was actually our second visit! From the moment you arrive, the peaceful waterfront setting beneath the beautiful ancient oaks creates the most relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage itself is beautifully renovated, blending charming Southern cottage style with modern touches that make it feel both cozy and upscale.
We especially loved spending time outdoors — enjoying sunsets on the dock, watching the waterfowl glide by, and simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings. The outdoor spaces are perfect for relaxing, dining, or just enjoying the view. Every detail feels thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation.
What truly makes this place exceptional, though, are the owners, Fred and Jane. They are incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure we have everything we need while still giving us complete privacy to enjoy our stay. It’s rare to find hosts who are so genuinely kind and hospitable.
The River Cottage feels like a hidden gem, and we are already looking forward to returning again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay. The property is wonderful and the location is remotely set, perfect for a romantic trip. Our hosts were incredible too. We will absolutely be back.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Fred and Jane’s rental property. Their cottage was cozy, comfortable and very relaxing after a day of exploring in Savannah and surrounding areas. We appreciated the nice bottle of wine that was placed in the refrigerator and tasty coffee that was given to us along with a handwritten note from Fred and Jane. A nice personal touch.😊We really enjoyed spending time on the screened-in porch sipping our coffee in the morning and wine in the evenings while admiring the beautiful sunset views from the porch as well as the dock. The outdoor shower was a nice amenity and we appreciated the quality of the towels and linens.
