Beautifully house, great location. Had all items needed. Pretty sunsets and able to kayak. We spent a day at Olympic and one at Rainier as well as time in Seattle and Point Defiance. Great family trip.

Words cannot describe the hospitality, charm and sense of “home” Berg’s Landing provided our family during our 3 week stay. A home with a rich tradition of history and more importantly family has been perfectly kept in-tact by Marc and Kristen (and family) and only added to the memories we take from our trip to the PNW.
The neighbors / neighborhood were wonderful and the location only added to the enjoyment that Berg’s Landing provided. The beach and The Sound provided hours of activity/fun for our children and hours of peace and relaxation for us during all hours of the day.
The only negative we take from our trip was not booking Berg’s Landing for 4 weeks and having to finally depart.

I was trying to estimate the number of vacation rentals I've rented or stayed at during my life. Maybe 25? 30?
Kristen was far-and-away the most hospitable host we've ever had.
We got friendly texts before we even arrived, were welcomed with snacks and personal notes, and more friendly texts (and some help with an item we left behind) when we checked out.
I've stayed in plenty of rentals where the communication from the owner is along the lines of "HERE ARE THE RULES YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU BREAK THEM!"
Kristen's communication was entirely along the lines of , "I'm SO glad you're here! How can I make your stay better?!" (And the house rules were entirely reasonable)
The property itself is nearly as amazing as Kristen's hospitality. Right on the water, with a private beach and everything you could possibly need to have a good time on the sound. Kayaks, life jackets, a fire pit and plenty of outside seating.
We met some friendly neighbors, beach walkers and a possie of labradors during our time on the beach.
I know this will sound insincere if I keep using superlatives, but this rental deserves them, so I'll keep going: the interior of the house was the most thoughtfully decorated interior of anyplace I've ever stayed. An HGTV interior design show could just walk in, and convincingly film an episode of "how to perfectly and authentically decorate your beachfront cottage."
The beds were comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location is far enough out of downtown to feel private, but about 5-minutes from great dining and grocery options.
I feel like reviews aren't convincing if you don't point out the negatives, but there weren't any.
The cottage is converted from an old store, but it's wonderfully done. Some of the floors aren't even (as you'd expect from an old house on the beach), and you may feel like you've had a few too many walking across them even when you're completely sober.
But honestly, it was charming and lovely.
The house is right next to a public boat ramp, hidden in a residential neighborhood. On a sunny Saturday, a handful of boats got launched. We found it good entertainment, but if you were hoping for complete isolation, I suppose this could be an issue?
My only regret is that our stay was too short, and we had obligations that kept us from spending our whole weekend relaxing and playing at the house. We're already planning our next trip.

History meets serenity. This ocean getaway brought time to a stand still. We loved our relaxing weekend being surrounded by the character of a storied past and the joys of the living sea.
