We had a great time at this cozy cabin! The house has a lot of space and it has so many unique things to check out. It had everything we needed for cooking, relaxing, and hanging out. It is clean and comfortable! Pete and Sherry are great hosts! We would love to come back and stay again!

We stumbled upon Turkey Trot by accident, looking for a place to stay before the total eclipse of the sun on 08 April 2024.
In searching for places to stay from Rochester to Burlington, the event-inflated pricing was palpable. I viewed a house on one site for a few days, which had a daily rate that exceeded the cost of the entire stay in Candor, NY. We were aware the eclipse couldn’t be viewed from that area, but we were willing to drive to see it and planned to stop in Ithaca on our way back to Northeast PA. The Turkey Trot Acres is a log construction structure that has been crafted by the owners Pete and Sherry over several decades. They purchased the land as a Turkey hunting camp and built the original cabin for that purpose. Over the years they have hand-crafted several cabins and adjoining structures to easily accommodate eight people within the main structure, for turkey hunts and sometimes other events. Their guests include generals, television personalities, and professional athletes, whose photographs adorn the hand-honed-log walls of the cabin. They have also been hosts to live music entertainment events featuring the New Riders Of The Purple Sage (NRPS), who held several concerts over a ten year span, which were recorded on audio and video for posterity. In speaking to Pete and Sherry, they fondly recalled the stories of new music created and celebrated, while the families of the band members enjoyed the natural beauty that surrounds Turkey Trot and Candor, NY. We also discussed how inspired artists and musicians feel when visiting Turkey Trot, some insisting on returning to “woodshed” or create within their cabin’s love-filled walls.
We knew that we didn’t need so much room for our stay, but they were pet-friendly and we were drawn to stay there from the photos in the slideshow. You can feel the relaxation set in before you set foot on the property.
Upon our arrival, which was later than we expected, we were greeted with handmade wood-fired pizza made in their Forno Bravo pizza oven named, “Carmella”. We later learned that they run a pizza school featuring the ovens, which can cook a pizza in about 90 seconds at almost 900F!
If you’re looking to get family and friends together for a gathering in a nature setting with great hosts, this might be your place. Pete and Sherry are helpful and accommodating, while providing hours of history (for eager ears!) about the camp over their delicious pizza.
