The Capital Boutique Hotel

There's nothing overtly bad, but we struggle to say too much good other than staff helpfulness and location. Generally we felt it was rough around the edges and requires investment. - Rooms and common areas - average, tired and bland. Chipped floor tiles, fraying rug and old towels in our room. No where to hang a dress. Scruffy warning tape on steps. - Rooftop average, scruffy in places, old quilt cover on the floor for days stopping rain coming under the door, outside fridge 'protection' appalling - Breakfast average quality, plenty of choice, good coffee - Noise levels - average. We heard the bar below, and the extensive re-building works from the adjoining property, which we were not forewarned of when booking We realise this review goes against the tide but we just didn't feel it offered the luxury claimed. We travel extensively and feel half the price more acceptable for the product offered.

The rooms are well designed and spacious with good amenities. The staff is polite and very helpful. The daily complimentary drink and the rooftop bar and pool are a bonus. I was unlucky to get a room next to the elevator and a room with very little natural light. I got a room on the wrong side of the building and a lower floor which meant it was always dark inside. I requested the staff many times to give me a better room but nothing worked. The view from my room was just a wall which killed the bright sunny vibe of Malta. For a relatively high price tag- they should make sure every room meets the customers expectations. The shower heads need some upgrades too.
