The host is really friendly and helpful. You can also ask him for general recommendations for Marseille. The property is newly renovated, it is clean and everything works as expected. Particularly useful is the washing machine. Marseille can be warm and dusty, it is a true asset to be able to do laundry at the property during your stay. Also, the shower at the property is really spacious and luxurious. The property has air conditioning which works well.

Marseille is a lively city with active street live, bars, cafes etc. similar to e.g. Kreuzberg in Berlin or Trinity Bellwoods in Toronto. However, the location of the property is not actually in the centre where there are restaurants and bars, but also not a suburb in the north American sense. In fact, this particular quarter is situated a bit awkwardly between large streets, and the houses look run down. When I first arrived at the property, on a Sunday evening, I was a bit unsure about the neighborhood. However, upon closer inspection on the next day, this impression was changed. The quarter is in fact currently being renovated, with newly built multi family dwellings right at the next street, and a large park in close vicinity. I never had any problems with the inhabitants of the quarter. The location is acceptable for someone who can walk 500m, but if you are looking to live right in the centre of tourist activities, it's maybe not for you. The apartment is at the ground floor, and it has a window which is new, but still lets through almost all noise from the street (I think the issue is not the window itself, but the lower part beneath it, which is not a brick wall but rather some sheet metal). People in Marseille love motor bikes, so when the inhabitants of the house order food in the evening, you will hear a noisy scooter in front of your window every 10 minutes. Also, the locking mechanism of the front door is quite noisy. During the night, it is quiet. Again, whether this bothers you will depend on your situation. If you are looking for quiet evenings at home, it's maybe not ideal.

Christian est un hôte accueillant, amical et toujours prêt à aider. La petite maison est très accueillant, bien équipée et il a même pensé à laisser des produits de nettoyage et de lessive si besoin. Le vrai atout, surtout en été à Marseille, c’est la climatisation indispensable ! La localisation n’est pas centrale, mais avec les transports en commun, on peut rejoindre le centre facilement. Je recommande 100%!

Was cosy, slept well on the sofa bed. Apartment small and compact decorated discretely, nicely done. With TV and aircon.

Unfortunately problem with plumbing, was blocked, weird sediment in shower. I was told not to use any water in the flat as it would effect the blockage and come up in the shower. So couldn't cook, use kitchen sink, bathroom sink, toilet or shower. The initial estimate was it would be resolved quickly but it took a 24 hours to resolve. Was great to be offered to use upstairs flats toilet and shower to use by the owner in the meantime. This was offered initially as "if you need the toilet/shower go upstairs now, as I need to leave & do things so won't be around for you to use later" vibe, which made using the prosepect of using the toilet & shower time limited & stressful. But then the owner eventually realised the inconvenience & gave me the key for upstairs to use at my leisure which was good. Owner kindly refunded the first nights stay, minus service/cleaning I think. Communciation could have been better. Owner spent plently of time on my arrival showing me how to use the TV (after breaking the news about the plumbing) without me asking but did not mention how to turn the sofa into a double bed, the sofa had a mechanism that was unfamiliar to me compared to other sofa beds, so I slept uncomfortably for the first night before being shown properly the next day. Owner was indignant and argumentative when I said communciation could be better and that he should have shown me how to make the bed when we met me on arrival. Also it wasn't communicated the arrival time of the plumbers, they arrived for entry into the apartment without notice with the owner. I hadn't slept well- less than 4 hours sleep on the sofa bed, plumbing being fixed involved loud suction noises almost like a drilling noises.
