SPABLIC INN - Capsule Hatago Akasaka

Good facilities, clean, helpful staff.

It was clean and located near convenience stores. There were shoe lockers and regular lockers using an electric lock.

The bed/ mattress was not very giving.

Perfect relaxing spot in the middle of Akasaka-mitsuke’s busy streets, there’s nothing like returning from a long day of exploring the city to rest and relax at Spablic Inn. The facilities are truly superb, especially the spacious spa and tatami room, and the capsule are more comfortable and spacious than usual. As a solo traveller, this was a perfect place to stay and I would gladly stay again. Whilst designed mainly for shorter stays, I stayed for 4 nights and felt comfortable the whole time.

Very small things that could improve the experience: 1) one more socket in the capsule so you can charge more than one device at a time 2) better storage options for larger bags, as they otherwise need to stay behind the front desk in a secure room, which means I need to ask for them every time I need to get something out of my bags unless it’s in the small locker 3) shaving cream or foam in the spa But this was still a stellar experience

Men only The place generally felt dishonest. Its a bit hard to see through the polite sugar coating. For some weird reason they dont loet you change your booking via booking.com. When I called on the phone they did very little to try to understand me or talk a bit english, even though I spoke a bit Japanese. They directed me to add one more night through a new booking which would require me to pay an extra cleaning fee, doubling the cost. There weren't any available on booking.com, so I had to go to expedia. They later saw my message on booking.com, and suddenly said there is availability on booking.com. I later found out, after checking in and staying three nights, that this is their method, even though there were at least 20 available beds, booking.com showed ZERO. Thats a terrible pre-checkin experience and customer service. About the place itslef: Great if you must find a place for the night and you have no other option. Its clean, and has the onsen which is nice. But other then that , I would definitely not stay there again more than one single night. There is no decent place to organize your stuff in needed, and they have some specific rules that take much of the apparent comfort. They do everything correctly, but expect for one super nice lady that was there part of the time, it did not feel welcoming at all. Lots of Sumimasen, with not a bit of intention behind it. I felt they don't really like foreigners (or people in general) but of course they cannot say it to your face.

I do think its a nice spot if you only want to use the onsen to shower, and the restaurant also looks nice.
