Where “Great-Grandma Jaaptje” once shelled her shrimp at the dining table, you can now experience the fishing village of Greetsiel up close in this fully renovated historic building. With a view across the harbor toward the twin windmills.
It’s just a few minutes’ walk over the dike to the dollhouse-like village center. It’s also just a few minutes to the supermarket or the “Oase” wellness spa. You can park your car in front of the house and simply forget about it during your vacation: everything is within walking distance. Or by bike.
Greetsiel is the heart of the East Frisian North Sea coast, a vacation region that couldn’t be more diverse. Whether on land or water, whether playing golf or riding horses, whether fishing, biking, or hiking—there’s a wealth of options for every interest. The advantage over the islands: there are no limits to your activities. Every village in the surrounding area has something special to offer: cozy cafés, beer gardens, museums, windmills, and much more.
If you’re drawn to one of the East Frisian islands—no problem. In the summer, a ferry to Juist/Norderney docks about 250 meters from your vacation home. Year-round departures from Norddeich (about 18 km); the ferry to Borkum departs from Emden (28 km).
Sightseeing flights from Norden or Emden airports, island excursions by plane or boat, a 500-km network of navigable canals within the surrounding area, a seal breeding station and the Waloseum in Norden (12 km), swimming lake in Greetsiel, designated walking trails of various distances, and much more.
