Great location, pretty clean and very warm. Convenient parking right out front and feels homely. Hosts are very nice and we appreciated the information book left on the coffee table about using the oven etc.

Nothing we didn’t like about the property.

The best thing is the open, pleasing, view over the park. Watching the regular dog walkers and the antics of their pets was a pleasure! Also, for us, this was a work visit so the fact that the property is within walking distance of the university. It is also close to a bus stop for getting into the centre of ChCh if you don’t have a car. Good frying pans. Comfy beds, and good linen. Plenty of storage space. And many thanks to the helpful cleaner who delivered some extra linen: seeing I was having to cook a dish using two saucepans as the was no large casserole dish, offered to try and find one large pot to go on the hob. It arrived the next morning.

The kitchen is poorly equipped if, like us, you have a long stay and want to cook for yourselves and invite friends for meals. Minimal crockery, knives and forks, etc. No teapot or serving dishes. And, worst of all, no decent sized dinner plates, only what in the UK would be called a breakfast plates, barely bigger than a side plate. (We borrowed dinner plates from a colleague.) No large casserole dish to go in the oven, although there was a rice steamer. There was a broken bedside lamp which was promptly replaced on reporting. Cleaning could be improved - on arrival I dusted skirting boards & hoovered up visible fluff and sweet wrappers from under the beds. I also cleaned around the edges of the shower tray where there was some blackness building up. There were some basics provided but the tea and coffee was poor quality - as was the toilet paper (the poorest we’d ever encountered in NZ!). This feels mean given the price. The property has two double rooms and also a sofa bed in the lounge but only has one long sofa opposite the TV. The three of us could fit on in a line…….but if there were more of you it would be a squash. No washing machine - which we knew on booking. There is an outside washing line if you want to handwash things - but only 5 pegs! Again, either mean or thoughtless. Finally, it would be good if there were more coat hangers for those who stay for a while and want to unpack everything.
