Shulinso 秀林荘

The house itself was great. It was a very nice mixture of modern and traditional. It was close to the station and places to eat. Had all the facilities we needed. Had plenty of hot water. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable, but the tatami futon in the second bedroom was a bit firm.

1) mosquitoes. We were attacked in the courtyard just trying to enter. Then we don’t know if they were getting in through the loosely sealed door or just coming in with us. We ended up closing off each room and mosquito hunting until it seemed safe. Kept each room isolated, but still got a few bites inside. Sadly, we couldn’t use the onsen because of the mosquitoes. 2) communication seemed a little iffy. I messaged 2 days before our arrival and had to message again trying to find out when they would send the entry info. Then just got an automated message that I needed to pay the city tax through an outside site before they would send entry code. We did that- and of course that site charges an additional fee. The day of arrival, I got another message that they miscalculated the tax and we needed to send the additional amount before they would send the code. We paid that amount plus the additional fee and finally got the code to enter.

L’escalier qui mène aux chambres : particulièrement raide et dangereux (impossible de monter les bagages ds les chambres). Le fait qu’il n’y a pas un canapé au Rez de chaussée. Il y a seulement 4 chaises traditionnelles (par terre): aucun lieu pour se détendre confortablement. Le grand lit est juste confortable: accueil moelleux mais assez ferme. On y a dormi 1 semaine, c’est assez. Les 2 autres lits 1 personne sont des futons: ok pour les jeunes pas pour les personnes souffrant du dos. Le oysen et douche extérieure: nid à moustiques: nous ne les avons pas utilisé.

Good location, traditional and private.

Smaller than anticipated and not the correct amount of bedrooms.

Quiet and with open bath facility

I stayed for 7 days 6 nights, would be better to have at least one time of cleaning. Toaster is not available but shown in picture.
