About this cabin rental

In the morning, bundle up in your coziest sweater to sip your coffee and watch the sunrise over the towering mountain peaks before enjoying a woodland stroll around the property. After that, take a mid-morning nap (you are on vacation after all), or get ready for a full day of adventure. Summit Sunsets is the perfect jumping-off spot to explore everything the area has to offer while taking advantage of the privacy of a mountain cabin in the woods.

The home is located about 35 minutes from Lake James State Park where you can spend the day boating and sunbathing on the beautiful mountain "beach" or exploring the mossy, forested ridges and rocky peaks dotted with the vibrant wildflowers and wildlife that characterize Linville Gorge Wilderness, and it's also just 35 minutes from the quaint towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock which are home to the Mountain Beach & Water Park, Flowering Bridge, and Chimney Rock State Park.

For even more options, take another quick 25-30 drive to reach the charming towns of Black Mountain and Marion. Spend your day exploring downtown Marion before enjoying some nightlife at Mica Town Brewing Company and Spillway Bridge & Co., or head over to the "Front Porch of Western North Carolina," Black Mountain, which boasts 2 local breweries (Lookout Brewing and Black Mountain Brewing) along with more shops, art galleries, parks, and incredible restaurants like My Father's Pizza, Louise's Kitchen, and Que Sera. No trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina is complete without experiencing the "Paris of the South," Asheville, which is located just under 50 minutes away. While there, be sure to check out the hip and ever-eccentric River Arts District, Mast General Store, North Carolina Arboretum, and America's Largest Home, the Biltmore Estate. Asheville is also home to a large number of award-winning restaurants and breweries that you can sample between activities.

After a full day of fun, return home to relax and read a book on the sun porch, or on those inevitably stormy days, settle in on the screened porch to listen to the sound of rain on the roof with a glass of wine. In the evening, craft a delicious meal using the gas grill before dining al fresco to take in the gorgeous mountain views. After dinner, gather around the gas log fireplace to stream your favorite movie before heading outside to roast marshmallows around the fire pit and enjoy the clear and star-filled skies overhead.

Centrally located among the most popular destinations the area has to offer, this private mountain cabin is the perfect place to escape and explore with the ones you love, and as the name Summit Sunsets suggests, you will feel like you've hit the peak of leisure!

Please note: This house is dog-friendly with a $100.00 non-refundable fee per dog (maximum of two). Dogs need to be bathed before arrival and up-to-date on their flea and tick treatment. Pet owners should pick up their dogs' waste and dispose of it properly prior to departure. Sorry, this home is not cat-friendly due to common allergies. For security purposes, there is 1 exterior camera under the deck facing the driveway.

Greybeard homes are located near Pisgah National Forest. Ladybugs and Kudzu Beetles may be seen in our area in the fall and winter months, and it is not uncommon for them to find their way into homes to escape the cooler weather from time to time. They are not poisonous and cannot be exterminated.

We needed a place to spend time with our family, since my mom was just diagnosed with cancer. The main things we wanted were cleanliness, a fireplace, & a view. This place did not disappoint. The beds were comfortable. Loved the gas fireplace & the wraparound porch. The kitchen had what we needed & some extra things too. The pots & pans were nice. I do wish they had bigger coffee mugs, but they did have travel mugs if we had needed those. Both a Keurig & a regular coffee maker were available. There are log rocking chairs on the front porch to sit & enjoy the view of the mountains, & fairly comfortable furniture on the screened back porch. We didn’t use the side portion much because it rained most of the time. There is also a balcony off the bedroom upstairs where you can sit if you want to be away from everyone. There is a nice fire pit out front, but we didn’t get to use it because of the burn ban. There are some seating areas in the yard to enjoy the view & the quiet, even some little trails. I loved all the trees around the property, & the fall colors were still pretty. The only problems we had were that the power went out the first night around 2 am & stayed out for several hours, & during that time the carbon monoxide alarm decided to start screeching every 15 secs. We couldn’t figure out how to stop the noise/who to contact about it. It was too dark & we were sleepy. Lol. Found a battery @9 am. Maybe clarify who to contact? They did reply. We made sweet memories. Thanks!
