The Middle Wied Valley region is an ideal year-round vacation destination for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists, and, of course, those who enjoy cultural exploration and city breaks. The valleys of the Rhine, Moselle, Lahn, and Ahr—with the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Linz, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Neuwied, Koblenz, and Limburg, all of which are easily accessible—have much to offer. You’ll find a wealth of tips for regional tours, trips to other areas, and events on the municipality’s website: www.rengsdorf-waldbreitbach.de.
At the Goldscheid vacation home, you’ll stay in a very pleasant setting with views of nature. A floor-to-ceiling window in the living and dining area provides an unobstructed panoramic view. As soon as you step outside the house, located on the outskirts of town, you can explore a variety of walking and hiking trails—and, of course, bike paths too! The entire region—from the volcanic landscape of the Eastern Eifel beyond the romantic Middle Rhine to all the attractive destinations in the Westerwald—invites you on journeys of discovery.
Despite the seclusion of the village of Goldscheid, the important and enjoyable things in life are right at your doorstep: groceries at “Nah und Gut” about 1,200 m away, the Paganetti restaurant—popular throughout the region—about 800 m away (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), the Fernblick Hotel and Restaurant in Hümmerich (5 km), as well as the shops and restaurants in Waldbreitbach, about 5.0 km away in the Wied Valley, a children’s playground on the outskirts of Hochscheid (500 m), an outdoor and indoor swimming pool in Hausen (5 km), a ski and hiking lodge on the Marlbergkopf (7 km), and much more.
. Once you’ve gotten to know the immediate surroundings, you might want to explore the region on day trips. Goldscheid is a very convenient starting point for this, as you can reach Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz, the Moselle, or the Upper Westerwald within an hour. We also recommend taking a look at the website of the Wiedtal Tourism Association (Touristikverband Wiedtal e.V.), as it provides comprehensive information on all activities and current events: www.wiedtal.de.
We remind our guests that our swimming pond is over 2 meters deep; use is at your own risk. It’s wonderful to dive into the cool water after leaving the hot sauna. There are foam flotation devices in the storage room next to the kitchen to make staying in the deep water safer.
Use of the wood-fired sauna, located in the garden, is free of charge; however, we have set up a piggy bank as a voluntary donation box for firewood, as the prices for wood and wood products—such as wood briquettes, which are used in the sauna—have risen significantly. Since not all guests use the sauna, it wouldn’t be fair to include a flat-rate fee for firewood in the overnight rate.
If you’d like to use the sauna, please bring your own sauna towels and any other items you may need.

The Goldscheid vacation home features 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and a separate toilet.
Highlights include the swimming pond and the outdoor sauna—both are free for our guests to use! The swimming pond is inviting not only in the summer but also during the cooler months, when you can enjoy the wood-fired sauna in the garden. On a stroll through the enchanting natural garden, which is predominantly filled with native shrubs and flowers, there’s always something new to discover.
The building, formerly used for agricultural purposes, has a partly rustic, rural charm, and thanks to the clay plaster and natural mineral paints (Auro), the house enjoys a very pleasant, natural indoor climate. A Grander water system is installed.
