Taku Home Stay

We had a truly wonderful stay at this homestay in Peradeniya! The interior design creates such a beautiful, aesthetic vibe that makes you feel at home instantly and that was one of the most attractive parts of the stay. The hospitality was absolutely on point the owner was incredibly thoughtful, personally checking in to ensure we arrived and departed safely. Her sister was also there to help us with a smile. And she was also so kind and friendly that we felt like family rather than just guests. If you’re looking for a calm, peaceful stay with a perfect balance of privacy and warmth, I can’t recommend this place enough!

The hostess was the best part. But also it was very peaceful and quiet with relaxing, attractive and spacious surroundings.

We had a wonderful stay at Taku Villa. The home is lovely and spacious, with a really comfortable sofa and TV area that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The breakfast and dinner were both excellent too, we loved trying new Sri Lankan foods! The hosts were also incredibly helpful and even assisted us with our laundry, which made our stay feel even more comfortable and convenient. It’s the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to Kandy while still enjoying a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. You can easily book a very affordable PickMe ride into the city within minutes, so it truly offers the best of both worlds. We’d highly recommend Taku Villa to anyone visiting the area!

The homestay itself is modern, but sadly, the overall experience fell short of expectations.

We stayed for 5 nights, and while breakfast was advertised as included and paid for, it was only provided on 3 days — and even then, it was very basic. Hospitality was virtually non-existent. We were left to completely fend for ourselves, with little engagement or support from the hosts. The location is also worth noting: there’s absolutely nothing of interest nearby, and you’re around 15 km from Kandy city centre and quite far from local shops. Best one waa Kneells, which you'll need a TukTuk. The family has a very friendly dog, which my three-year-old loved, but unfortunately the dog had visible mange. This was an issue, particularly with my three year old around. I strongly urge the owners to seek veterinary care or at least provide him some.basic treatment — it’s distressing to see an animal in that condition. There was no hot water available, and the water pressure regularly dropped extremely low — possibly due to reliance on rainwater collection in this mountain area. The internet was also very unreliable, constantly dropping out. At one point, the father deliberately switched off the router at the wall, while I was in the middle of trying to rebook trains and accommodation due to a change in travel plans caused by bad weather. It felt intentionally obstructive and unhelpful. To make matters worse, on our final day, while trying to reconnect to the Wi-Fi, one of the network devices displayed the name “I have been watching you.” Whether this was a joke or not, it was unsettling and quite inappropriate — especially in a place that markets itself as a family-friendly stay. On top of that, my daughter’s Pandora ring disappeared from the bedroom during our stay. We searched the entire room, but it was simply gone. Unfortunately, while the building itself is clean and modern, the lack of care, for guests and even their own dog — really impacted our stay.
