Lovely clean room.
Great pub with excellent food.

Lovely location by the river. A really pleasant and unusual place to have breakfast. Every member of staff was welcoming and helpful. The facilities were spotless and the twin beds were comfortable.
The en-suite, in a small twin bedroom, was too small for anyone over average height as there wasn't enough space to sit on the loo - you needed to sit side saddle. The wash basin was a cloakroom size so difficult to shave or clean your teeth comfortably.

Beautiful setting next the river. Staff friendly and welcoming with excellent service.
Quirky old building. Older guests would need to make clear their mobility on booking as I am sure the staff would go out of their way to accommodate.
This is not a true dislike as I loved it but just a thought if I had of taken an older parent.

We used the venue as a centre for a Wye Valey holiday and it was an excellent decision. The rooms, the staff and the food were all outstanding
One very mild issue. Room was very hot overnight

Room was cosy. View of the river. River walk. Pub, restaurant close by. Most of the staff very friendly and helpful but overall a bit lacking in attention.
Tiny bathroom hand basin. No shelf to put any toiletries on. No wardrobe. Position of TV was wrong for the bed and as there was nowhere else to sit, apart from chair which was directly under the TV. Apart from that the TV didn't work as impossible to change channels with the remote!

First thing to say is that the breakfast at Hope and Anchor is fantastic - one of the best. Have the full English. Evening meal was also good. Bed very comfy and mostly pleasant and well finished. Location is excellent a couple of hundred metres up Wye Road and the just off the ring road. It's on the river so very pleasant but just steps away from the picturesque town centre.
So I chose a place with parking, but on reaching the car park not much clue it belonged to the hotel, but rather dire warnings of fines from an external management company. I checked with the lady at check in and she confirmed it was the right place but felt I had a brusque talking to about registering my reg number to avoid a fine. She had a point, but could have made it more pleasantly. Ensuite was tiny and the wash basin the size of a pocket handkerchief. Nowhere to put your case other than the floor.

Breakfast was excellent. The hotel was conveniently situated between the river walk and gardens and within easy walking distance of the town.

Lovely staff, great restaurant food
Bed was a small double and although comfortable, was a tight fit for 2 adults! Not a suitable place for anyone with mobility problems, lots of stairs and inclines to negotiate

The property was right on the river front, easy parking, easy check in and there was a lovely view from the room x
To be honest everything was excellent - slight issue with breakfast which was quickly rectified. The sandwich you have to pay to add hashbrown but it doesn’t say this explicitly on there - top tip you’re better having the full English and making your own sandwich x

Our second visit and we will definitely return. Rooms are lovely and clean, comfortable with nice bathrooms. Staff are really lovely and food is great. The riverside location is stunning.
Our room this time was on the small side and not the best view from the window.

The location on the side of the river Wye
The fact that dogs are allowed
The friendly staff
Food in pub and breakfast.
Cleanliness
Gorgeous walks along the river.
The accommodation is in an adjoining building accessed by steep external steps. Ok is you're fit, not ok if you're not.
If the weather is good, try to give the place a miss on a Sunday lunchtime as it's heaving with people.

The reception, room & evening meal in the restaurant were excellent
The breakfast in the Pavillion was disappointing.
The full English breakfast lacked flavour: tomatoes, egg, hash browns were 'supermarket' quality - tadteless. The bacon too sslty. Well below the standard of others we'd experienced in the region.
Also would have been nice to see tables pre-set for breakfast...... it was not inviting.

Very pretty location by the river. Well appointed with a comfy bed and good shower. Pleasant restaurant in the Pavilion.
The double room was a bit cramped with a stifling number of cushions. But it was fine for just me and my dog.

Location and the quality of lunch/dinner was excellent. Clean and tidy.
Breakfast service disappointingly slow, limited choice and tea/coffee served from a flask! All rooms only have a double bed, no king size beds.

All was good

Location and food were really good. Staff were helpful. Room had a nice feel to it. Restaurant was very nice as well as the atmosphere.
Only little niggle is that the room was a bit on the small side ( riverside double) and our bathroom had a cloaks washbasin which wasn't practical.

It was clean and tidy, well decorated, cosy. The food was amazing, piping hot and all local produce and made on site.
The room though very nice had its problems, the full length mirror in the landing had no lighting above, the T.V remote either needed replacing or new batteries and there was a very strong smell of damp and mould coming from the sealed chimney former fire place that gave me a headache. All reported to the hotel.

Good breakfast.
Very basic and small room.
8.0 / 10.0
The breakfast was excellent, far surpassing our expectations.
Although I appreciate this is impossible to change, the steps and stairs up to the room were very awkward with luggage.
7.0 / 10.0
The location is great, near the town centre and next to the river for walks in either direction.
There is a large beer garden.
The bedroom we occupied was very small and two nights was long enough.
