Casa Glicine - San Gimignano

This was my fifth visit to San Gimignano, and it never fails to impress me. This time we stayed at Casa Glicine which is much more than an apartment having two large bedrooms, a generous kitchen, a comfortable lounge combined dining room, a large hall and a decent bathroom, but best of all – a private garden with two table settings, one of table and chairs where you can sit upright for meals and one with sofas and a large coffee table under an awning where you can sit, lie, squat or lounge for simple relaxation. The kitchen was generously stocked with bottled water, condiments, tea and coffee for the espresso machine – a real plus. Overall, Casa Glicine makes for a superb stay-vacation especially in Spring and the off the peak summer period, i.e. the months of April, May, June and October. We stayed in mid September with 30oC - 34oC daily max temperatures so it was quite warm with significant dependence on the cooling fans.

The only significant negative is the lack of airconditioning which translates into hot and humid nights but Lorenzo, our host, organised fans for us and that made a huge difference. There is another negative, relatively minor in context, which involves the shower – the overhead rain fitting does not work so you must shower using the wand and there is no overhead bracket for the wand so you shower holding it in your hand the whole while, which is a little awkward. The only other improvements I would suggest are minor – e.g. a toaster would be great, the kitchen is so well equipped I was surprised not to find a toaster, but we did manage to use the grill to make toast. Lorenzo offered us discounted parking by using his carpark permit but unfortunately it did not work for us we ended up paying more parking than the standard price – paying both Lorenzo and the carpark ticket vending machine.

Die Lage war super. In wenigen Minuten am Parkplatz, im Zentrum! Der Garten mit Sitzecke ist einfach genial! Die Wohnung super sauber und alles vorhanden was man benötigt. Handtücher, Shampo, Duschgel usw.

Es gibt nichts negatives anzumerken

Bývanie v centre San Gimignano je samo o sebe z historického hľadiska veľmi magické a nadprirodzené. Apartmán je veľký, čistý. Lokalitu hodnotím na 10/10, bola v bočnej uličke bezprostredného centra, napriek tomu bolo úplne ticho.

Lorenzo fue muy atento y hospitalario todo el tiempo. Nos ayudó con todas las recomendaciones que le pedimos. Respondía inmediatamente a cuales duda o pregunta que le hiciéramos. La ubicación es excelente y tiene el parqueo incluido solo por 4.50 el día. Bastante espacioso y tranquilo.
