The George Hotel

Room was clean, staff friendly and helpful. Only downside the stairs could do with a rail down the wall so you can walk down the wider part of the stairs, other than that it was great

I needed to spend the night in Battle and didn’t want to spent too much money and this was perfect. Battle is beautiful and the hotel is on the High Street close to amazing pubs, restaurants, shops and only a few minutes walking distance to Battle Abbey. Also only a short walk from the train station. The room was more than I expected for the price, I had everything I needed for my short stay. Though the decor maybe a bit dated I couldn’t fault the Hotel for cleanliness. The staff I met were very friendly and beyond helpful. I had a great night sleep.

Basic but adequate for anyone wanting a cheap stay in the middle of Battle High Street. It is characterful but tired and in need of an update. Staff were very helpful.

Upon receipt of the keys to room one, we opened the door to the room to be forced back by the smell of raw sewage which was coming from the ensuite bathroom as the door was left open, we entered and investigated to find the smell was coming from both the shower plug hole and the sun nk in the bathroom, the sink was also covered cracked and there was also a large crack from the base of the toilet going upwards, the room itself was very very hot with just a stand up fan to use to try and cool the room down, we opened the window to both let some air into the room and try to get rid of the smell, when looking at the room in general the bed was very old and not fit for purpose, several areas of the walls of the room you could also see paint peeling away, I asked to be put on n another room only to be told we would have to pay full price for a new room and they would not refund the cost of the original booked room so we had to go in disgust stay in that dirty horrible room and kept the window open, and on 3 separate occasions we were disturbed by the receptionist k icking on our door in the evening who kept ordering us to close our window which we refused to do, a. Nd there were only 2 small bottles of water provided and every time we asked for fresh water we were told they do not supplied it and we would have to pay for it if needed, absolutely disgusting stay is what myself and my wife have had we will never. Book there again or use the Agodo services again if they allow places like that Tobe advertised
