This place is a really cool concept, hammock style beds hanging from the platforms, super unique setup, and it’s clearly well run. I happened to arrive on a night with zero other guests (low season), so Renee upgraded me to a private room, which was awesome. It had proper partition walls with bamboo fronts, still that open air feel but way more privacy, plus my own mosquito net. Only a fan, but it was a comfortable stay for me. Breakfast came included with my booking and Renee made it herself, it was genuinely good, and we got to chat a bit while I ate, which was a nice moment of connection after a quiet night. Between that, the room upgrade, and the price, this was really great value for money. Renee was incredibly helpful overall too, she even dried out my laundry for free after it got soaked in the rain that day, really kind. Location wise, Chocolate Hills is just a 10 minute drive away, so it’s a great home base for exploring that area, quiet and a bit removed from town but still easy to get to.
The listing makes it sound like a social hostel with nightly family dinners, but since I was the only guest, none of that happened and it ended up feeling pretty lonely rather than social. The facilities were also under renovation when I visited (Oct 2026), so that’s worth knowing going in. The upgrades will be amazing when complete, as Renee pays close attention to detail. The showers are outside the main building, and with no one else around the lights weren’t really on, so walking there in the dark felt a bit unnerving. Also heads up if you’re not a bug person, there were some genuinely massive spiders in the shower, I was fine with it but it would freak some people out. You’ll want a scooter here or be ready to arrange a taxi for every outing, there’s really just a cafe nearby and not much else within walking distance. Honestly, as a solo traveler in low season this didn’t give me the hostel vibe I expected, it felt pretty secluded. I think this place would be amazing with a group, but I probably wouldn’t book it solo again outside of high season (Jan to March).

This was one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in period. Despite it being the low tourist season, my stay still felt so lively and I felt right at home the whole time. I had such a wonderful stay. From the people, to the sweet animals, to the location, to the food, everything was perfect. No mosquitos, very naturally cool temperatures at night, and Renee is an incredible cook!! If you’re an animal and nature lover this is the perfect spot for you.

I stayed at Bohol Hammock Hostel for four nights before heading to Camiguin, and ended up coming back for three more, completely unplanned but it felt right. Renee, Juan, Erwin, and everyone there made it feel less like a hostel and more like a home. What truly drew me back was the incredible dinners, warm, comforting, and shared like family meals. I am so grateful I found this place, tucked away from the tourist crowds yet still close to everything. Filipino hospitality has my heart!!
