Retro vibes, big yard, proximity to beach and local attractions, dog friendly . Hammock was a nice bonus

Inadequate cooling in very hot weather . Could benefit from a split system in living room, or sun blind

We liked the ‘beach shack’ feel of the place. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of warm bedding as well as heaters (and fans) in each bedroom. Fortunately the wood heater in the lounge room worked wonderfully because it was a cold, windy and wet weekend and there was an ample supply of dry firewood to ensure we stayed toasty. The big treed backyard was perfect for the grandchildren to have played in but the weather put paid to that. In a very nice touch the hosts provided Easter eggs and chocolates and there were games for both adults and children - very welcome given the weather. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, cookware and dinnerware for eight people. A very good sized fridge meant we could fit all our food in. We were especially grateful for how quickly the hosts responded when we called out for help after locking both sets of keys inside - they saved the day!

It really needed a second toilet and a proper second bathroom (the second ‘bathroom’ was a rudimentary shower in the separate laundry/games room which the females in our group declined to use - a shame as the shower itself was instant and very good). We could have done with a bit more dishwashing liquid, toilet paper and cooking oil for our party of eight. Luckily we took our own supplies as well. We had to go looking for the kitchen broom and we had to use the wood heater’s dustpan and brush in cleaning up. We planned to have a bbq one night but the grill hadn’t been cleaned and the gas bottle tap was smothered in spiderwebs - obviously hadn’t been checked before we arrived. And the hot water tap outside the toilet needs a new washer as it ran and dripped after being turned off normally - a minor thing but annoying and I hate wasting water!
