The Alta Apartments by Urban Rest

Location good, could walk to most central sights, Surry hills restaurants, central station etc. Aldi, cafe, chemist and Oxford st very close. Lots of space for a family of four. Large balcony which gets morning sun and good heating (winter stay).

We were on 2nd floor so there was a bit of street noise on sat night, just yelling which didn’t last long. Ensuite bathroom floor floods easily. Shower head needs to be fixed in the direction that doesn’t flood. Some mould on ceiling due to this issue.

Location was great. Lovely view of the city from bedroom windows.

Musty smell from the carpet. In one of the bedrooms there was hair in the carpet. Mildew in the showers.

Location, excellent amount of room on the apartment. Close to lots of facilities and easy to get an uber or taxi. Car park available if needed. Two balconies. Washing machine and dryer. Perfect for our week’s stay.

Floor grouting in bathrooms needs a good clean. Please ensure cleaning items are fully replenished. For us a Dyson vacuum or similar would have been helpful as we stayed a week.

Alta Apartments is a modern, well-located block near the heart of the Sydney CBD. Location-wise, it’s excellent; easy to get around yet, off the main drag … so quiet too. The property was a clean, functional two-bed, two bathroom apartment. It was exactly the sort of apartment I needed for my stay.

There was a musty smell in the hall of the apartment. It wasn’t over-powering, but it was lingering there. On the whole, the property ticked all the boxes. I am not sure I would book a property manager bt Urban Rest again. I travel to Sydney every year (as do members of my company, which are lead) and they made me feel like I was merely there to squeeze every last drop of revenue out of. I booked the property for 14 days … for a proper wedge of money. I am not expecting a bottle of wine to be waiting for me to on arrival (although, sometimes some Property managers do leave welcome gifts like that.). However, I don’t think it’s unreasonable, after a 24 hour flight from the other side of the planet, to expect there to be a place to leave one’s luggage, before the check in at midday. I arrived on a flight at 7.55 am, shattered from travel. I was informed “There is no place to leave your luggage. Either go to one of [6 luggage storage places across the Sydney] … or you can pay us an additional $140 and we will let you into the property a few hours early.” Having already paid close to $6k for the property, I felt that every last drop of revenue was being squeezed out of me. No disrespect to the property owner (whomever it is) but I was left really underwhelmed and unimpressed by the Sydney Urban Rest team.
