Bed bugs - Worst hotel experience ever

Nothing - Worst hotel experience ever – avoid at all costs. Two hours after our arrival, we discovered a bed bug on the pillow. This alone is unacceptable, but what followed was even worse. A staff member lied, claiming they didn’t know what it was, had never seen one before, and that they were going to close the hotel to treat it. None of this was true. The hotel was not closed, no treatment was done, and they later admitted there had already been bed bug infestations the previous year. We saw it also in previous reviews from other guests. This shows a complete lack of honesty and serious negligence toward guests’ health and safety. At 8 p.m., we were forced to urgently find another place to stay, with zero help, zero support, and no compensation offered by the hotel. We were left completely on our own. After returning home, we had to pay for a specialized pest control company to treat all our clothes, luggage, and personal belongings, which was extremely stressful and costly. This place puts its guests at risk and takes no responsibility. Run. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Perfect place to stay to soak in the Tuscan atmosphere.

The Relais castel Bigozzi was beautiful. The location was so serene in the Tuscan hills surrounded by fields and hills of olive trees. The views were amazing, the pool, patio and restaurant were lovely and it was in close proximity to Monteriggiano and the Via Francigena.

Breakfast was great! The only thing missing was Bit of vegetables, peppers, cucumbers.

The pillows in the room were very hard and uncomfortable. Apart of this our stay was fabulous and would return anytime.

A beautiful hotel in a great location for visiting for example Siena or San Gimignano. The view from the hotel over olive trees and the countryside is stunning! The staff are very friendly and very attentive. The breakfast is also very good. The dinner is phenomenal! We would definitely recommend dining here!

The only criticism is the room furnishings, which are unfortunately a little outdated.

Great place for a long holiday.

The place is beautiful and of great value. We had a great experience with a lot of things to do there. The staff is kind and professional. The rustic infrastructure helps create a Tuscany mood in the place.

Just the toilet needs some maintenance, but it's understandable due to the old infrastructure.

A great place to stay for pilgrims on the Via Francigenia, but is does add a few miles for the following day’s walk

Beautifully located just outside of the small village of Strove, and on the Via Francigenia, this place is gorgeous. The staff was welcoming. The room we booked was large and wonderful with our own balcony overlooking the valley. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was exceptional.

While the property has potential and highlights, our overall experience fell short of expectations.

The location is truly charming - located on a hill and surrounded by olive trees, it offers beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside and a peaceful setting away from the crowds. The castel itself is an impressive structure with lovely grounds and expansive outdoor areas and it also serves as a good base for exploring nearby attractions. The staff were generally friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately, the room we were given (Double Room) were not even close to the photos advertised on Booking.com and similar platforms. We were assigned an attic room with very narrow stairs that were difficult to navigate. I have uploaded photos of the staircase to provide an accurate view. Proactively addressing a possible response: the issue is not whether we could have requested another room, but rather that all rooms should meet a minimum standard of comfort, especially in a 4-star establishment. Housekeeping was inconsistent: for instance, the toilet paper was not replenished during our stay, and we nearly ran out by the third day. Breakfast, though included in the rate, was underwhelming and prepared on a tight budget. Items such as pancakes and scrambled eggs were not replenished once they ran out, which may be acceptable for a short stay, but is disappointing nonetheless. Lastly, the pool was visibly unclean, with dead insects floating on the surface despite the presence of a cleaning device at the bottom. This discouraged us from using it, which was a shame as we had looked forward to enjoying the pool area.

This is a great place to stay, superb views, tranquility with good food and wine.

The location is a bit far off from the centre, but once you get there you forget everything. The views from the hotel are amazing and represent what Tuscany is all about. There are many hotels with nice view in Tuscany, but view like this. The hotel restaurant if also amazing and they have some nice wines too. So i would definitely recommend eating at the hotel.

Great central location in Tuscany

Good central location in Tuscany, good base for doing day trips. great views and nice surroundings. Bed was comfortable. Restaurant is expensive but food quality is outstanding. Good breakfast with proper barista made coffee.

We had a suite which was a little tight to access as its in the roof space. On arrival the room was cold and is only sparsely furnished (rugs on the floor would be a nice, help counter the very creaky floor) a lot of the floor space is useless due to the slope of the roof almost meeting the floor. When we enquired about heating they told us they don’t turn the heaters on at this time of the year and the air conditioning is single cycle for cooling so we don’t leave the remote controls in the rooms at this time of the year. No coffee or tea making facilities in the room. Our shower recess had hair and pubic hairs in it when we arrived, and the lighting in the bathroom is dim especially with a faulty light that only half Illuminates. Pool was green so we were reluctant to use it.

very good hotel with fantastic restaurant

very nicely located in a quiet area. the staff was very helpful. we were able to change our room as we’ve had a baby in the room next door and the rooms are not soundproof. the food in the restaurant was extremely good. we highly recommend to have dinner there. all in all it’s a very good 4 star hotel and we wouldn’t absolutely stay there again.

in our first room we could hear the neighbors through the wall but we could change rooms so not a problem.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and beautiful views. The food in the restaurant was lovely.

We were unfortunate to have a storm and the roof leaked into our room on our last night. The staff were very apologetic and I’m sure it was a one off. The only thing I didn’t like about this lovely hotel was that I felt like a second class citizen in the restaurant. The “maitre de” didn’t seem to like our choosing the half board option the first night and from then on we struggled to get the service that the Italian guests were receiving. (Not the fault of the waitresses who were charming).
